There was mention about cats and bathtubs in the other email chain. Thought I'd
relay the oddities of our kittens Chloe (female) and Pepper (male).

Both just love to drink from a tap, any tap (bathroom, kitchen, laundry, etc.).
Thank goodness we have double sinks. Pepper's favorites is to drink from the
bidet when it's running. They do this all the time, several times a day.

Whenever the washer is filling Pepper has his nose in there checking it out.

There have been occasions when they've gotten themselves locked behind the
shower door - their for ever checking it out.

Last weekend, after our first massage, the wife and I decided to share a tub
(it's an air jet tub). The cats were naturally interested. Pepper was forever
playing with the bubbles. After we got out he jumped in when there was about 2
inches of water left. Didn't phase him at all.

As I said, the tub is an air jet not a jacuzzi. One day when we were getting
ready for bed (the cats are always in the bathroom with us), Chloe accidentally
stepped on the button setting of the jets - no water. Well, we got a classic
Looney Tunes cartoon going on. They couldn't get enough traction to move out of
there fast enough. Pepper would not come back in the bedroom.

The tub has a feature that 15 minutes after it shuts off the jets will go off to
clear themselves of water. So, we had to barricade the doors and take the cats
downstairs to wait until this was done.

We adopted these two in May (from the SPCA) and they have been a constant source
of entertainment and affection ever since. I've been wanting a dog but the way
Chloe and Pepper follow me around, play fetch, etc. there has not been a real
need for it.

My Maine Coone, Ben, loves water.  Every morning when the kids brush their
teeth, Ben goes into the tub and I put the water on trickle.  He loves it,
drinks from the tap and splashes himself, to where he gets fairly wet.  He
does this in my kitchen sink as well.  Also, loves to sleep in my bathroom
vanity sinks.  He's very entertaining, if I could only get him to stop
urinating in places he shouldn't..Any suggestions, yes, he's been to the
vet, his problem appears to be behavioral and getting Elavil into him is no
easy task, as he weighs 17 lbs. and almost ripped my arms apart trying to
hold him....

Thanks,
Maria

My wife made the mistake of leaving the lid up one time when we went out. We got
back and Pepper had obviously been playing (he paws at the bidet when it runs).
There as water splashed everywhere - except for his paws he wasn't too wet
though.

you should get him a pet drinking fountain,  mine don't drink from the loo
or dripping tap since we brought one
http://www.purrsonaltouch.com/feeddrink.htm   you can see one on this site,
we now have 2 in our house, its filters the water too.
my 3 cats wont even touch water from a bowl anymore since we brought these.
we are buying a couple more soon.

My cat would, except I try to keep the lids down, as soon as you go into the
bathroom he runs in and has to "inspect" what's going on.

I've heard that Maine Coon's are "waterproof" somehow - that their fur
repels water and doesn't absorb it the way normal cat fur does.

All three of our kittens too.  I was draining the fishtank earlier today
(regular water changeouts), I dumped the bucket and took it back to the
fishtank, Gem jumped in instantly while I was setting up the hose again.

I took her out, she jumped back in... I left her in and started the
water. Naturally she decided out was the way to go.

They're all obsessed with water, as long as it doesn't get on them.

They call it "PMS" because "Mad Cow Disease" was already taken
