Bodecia age 1yr was neutered yesterday. The vet had to go through the
front, as poor kitty was deemed to chubby for usual access from the side.
She was sent home with a hernia showing. Is this normal?!! What are your
views please.
Thanks

A hernia is NOT normal and would require emergency care.
A lumpish appearance at the incision site, IME, is. It's just swelling
as the tissue heals around the stiches.
All my girls looked lumpy and had mild redness for about a week after
surgery.
If you think it is a hernia, call the vet right away. Actually, call a
different vet, because a vet that would send home a cat with a hernia is
not one you should be patronizing.

Hi
This is my mothers cat. She was sent home last month after the first
attempt, with her side shaved and stiched up and the info that she was too
fat for the operation! Perhaps it's an English Vet's approach?
This time, Bodecia had a small bump about 0.5cm near the new scar, the vet
said it would go down.
Earlier today I told my mother to take the cat back in, because all the info
I could find on the net said that she would need an operation to correct it.
She took it back to the same vet, although she won't be using him for any
future illness the cat may have.
Bodecia is now back at home with a clean looking stitch up job on her chubby
little tummy.
Thanks for your reply. :O)

OMG, I am glad to hear your Mum got a new vet.
His behaviour was unacceptable.
