Many thanks for all the advice.  Big Boy had the IFA test today so we're
keeping our fingers crossed on the slim chance this will be negative.   As
it stands now, I do not have home for him & if test is +, I will have no
choice but to euthanize.  I would explore any alternatives anyone can
suggest.....

If the test is positive, do you have any co-workers, friends or
relatives with no cats that might consider fostering this guy for awhile
while you try to find him a home? Regardless, call *every* vet in your
area and ask them if they would contact their clients with Felv+ cats to
see if any of them would like to adopt a companion for their cat. Make
up a flyer with a good picture and description of this kitty, his story,
and make sure every vet has a copy or two. You can also put flyers up at
all the local pet supply places. Let your local rescue groups know about
this kitty, too, as they may know of someone with an Felv+ cat looking
to adopt another as a companion. Put up flyers at your place of work and
ask *everyone* you know to spread the word. You never know who they
might know that might know someone that might know someone...

It may take a little time, and he may have to spend longer than you'd
like in your bathroom, but it is certainly better to do this and give
this guy the gift of a good life with someone than to kill him. Please
read the quote at the bottom of my sigline. It really is true, and if
you have faith and make a committment to some way somehow find this
kitty a home, you'll be amazed at what can happen.

material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his
way."
