Well, yeah, one should say something, but I assume people have already
pointed out why declawing is evil.
Silence is implicit consent, I agree.
I can't get the alt groups here, so I never end up going over there. I'd
never be off Usenet. *g*

I did make a post and I agree with you. Even if it doesn't sink in with the
OP, it might with someone who is lurking. I think declawing is one of the most
horrific things that can be done to an animal :(

Hi Lauren,
Thanks for posting. I'm sure it makes a difference. I usually give the
website links but that's not always enough.
After Mike's post I thought I'd better check out the OP and I think
she is a troll-:(. Her odd name should have given me a clue.

I was going to have our kitten declawed but after reading these newsgroups
and doing research, I couldn't bear to do it. I have leather furniture,
daycare kids and fabric wall coverings and I did not see how a cat with
claws could coexist. Well, I have not had any major problems. I purchased
2 ceiling to floor cat platform trees at Walmart and a few scratching posts
and the kitty has almost exclusively used these to scratch. In fact, after
climbing the platform tree, I found that her 'scratching' has decreased
significantly. She has learned to be very careful with her claws when
playing. This is an abandoned feral kitty that we took in at about 1 to 2
months old.

What a happy testimonial to giving a cat proper places to claw! Thanks for
posting.
