a spray water bottle is often suggested as means to train kitty to stay
off the table, stop chewing the sofa, etc.
i ran across this possible alternative:

i saw one in a toy store. it promises much better range than the squirt
bottle. unlike the squirt bottle, it can't damage finished surfaces.
and you can use it on your friends too.

I need this for my co-workers.
*LOL*
I should think it is a kinder alternative to water spray as well, but
many cats might not give a hoot. Depends on the cat. Some are easily
ruffled, so to speak.

I find that the most effective device is a large can containing a
handful of marbles (or pennies). I don't even have to shake it any
more. All I have to do is pick the can up and Tiger stops what he is
doing.

My two cats hate being sprayed by a water bottle but it sure didnt teach
them to stay off things and such. it didnt help in there training at all.
Another thing they hate is when I spray air refreshener through the house or
in the bathroom i guess they dont like the sound.
