> Has anybody here had experience with kidney failure treatments?
Yes, lots of people. I gave sub-Q fluids to a CRF cat of mine, then a
potassium supplement when her K level became low, then Procrit injections
when she developed anemia. Other stuff, too, but those were the main
things. All do-able.
Another important thing, which is now more readily available: a blood
pressure reading at the vet's. High bp - besides being a problem on its
own, can also cause blindness due to detachment of the retina(s). Can be
treated through bp med.
Diet's also important, except my cat was none to fond of the renal diets by
either Hills Science Diet or Purina.
Excellent CRF site - much info, & practical/useful:

Some rules are outdated &/or meant to be broken. ;-)

Yes, I gave my cat sub-qs for almost 2 years. You can check out the website
felinecrf.com for some good info. Also, you can join the Feline CRF Support
group on groups.yahoo.com.

You have my sympathy. I have a CRF kitty now, and have lost others to
it. In the case of my Cosmo, I got him diagnosed early on, four years
ago this coming May, and so far, I have managed to maintain him on
diet alone (he's also on Lasix because of a heart murmur and fluid
build-up). I've also given fluids to a friends' kidney kitty, and
once you get used to it, it is not that hard (although I am not
looking forward to that time when it comes for Cosmo! He hates being
messed with, although he's gotten good at taking his Lasix finally.).
Anyway, others already gave you sites, so I hope those will help.
Best of luck to you and your kitty.

Two products were recommended to me for my Buddie, Hemotox and Metaltox. I
found a website that sells the stuff but when I asked them for a list of the
active ingredients so I could see if my vet thought it would interfere with
any medications this is the response I got:
Hello,
We suggest you do not give our remedies to your pet if you are going to
continue giving the Vets, medicine. It would do no harm but you would be
wasting your money.
Crystal
Don't know what to do.
