Charles M - 12 Sep 2005 13:53 GMT I can't even find a real message this morning. All spam, all different return addresses. What happened?

Barb - 12 Sep 2005 14:30 GMT I don't know. A ton of messages from one individual and today- are these guys trying to be poets or something? Meaningless drivel. I will scroll on down further and look for some familiar names.
-- Barb Of course I don't look busy, I did it right the first time.

flash.seas.smu.edu 1126529909 9499 129.119.164.204 (12 Sep 2005 12:58:29 GMT)
Anyone know how to filter on x-trace or domain (IP address)?

Then if you're using OE go to tools/message rules/news click on new and check out the options. Plug in the common word(s) into the appropriate place and tell it to delete. poof! gone.

If your newsreader isn't a complete piece of garbage, put in a filter for 'X-Complaints-To: abuse@engr.smu.edu' and the flood will vanish.

That's one way malicious trolls operate on USENET.
I suggest complaining to your own ISP, including header information and of course the group name(s).

If you want to know why, look at the responses made by the group rec.pets.anecdotes to the first appearance of someone they do not like. And know that behind the public responses are private campaigns to silence those they do not like (whom they call "trolls") by launching massive abuse reports to their Internet Service Providers. Look at those who are harassing and stalking on-topic users of these groups. That is what pisses people off.
Krazy Kat and his friends provide a good example of what a real troll is. Remember that the next time you decide to apply the term to someone you simply do not like. And thank the netcopping a.sholes in both h+b and rpca for the problems in both groups. Then learn to live and let live and use your killfile.

What I do know is that there is no such thing as "live and let live" for script-kiddie newsgroup flooders.

It's called flooding a group and it's one abuse *OF* the net that providers will act on. ( Rather than abuse *ON* the net like flame wars and trolling.) Everyone report it to the smu ( Southern Methodist University) abuse address in the header.

Sorry for the fake address. I want to stay below the radar on this one.
