Since some in this group have mentioned this particular condition
(especially with long haired cats), I thought I would share with you my
discovery that there is a Pennsylvania German word for it --
"aarschgnoddle."  According to Bill Bryson, in his book "Made in America,"
it means "the globules of dung found on hair in the vicinity of the anus."

Just a small Xmas present from me to the newsgroup.

Literally translated it means a.s noodle.
Loosely translated as dingleberry.

Even more loosely translated, it would be "butt nugget."
Geez that was gross. Sorry.

Well, it's trivial at best, but then again let's remember that this is one
of the ...well, less pleasant way we care for our cats that, if it weren't
for love (or in some cases for people, automagic litter boxen), we just
wouldn't do.
