This stray that we took in is great.
As soon as I started squirting her with a spray bottle for scratching
on the furniture, she started using her post.  Now she uses the post
about a hundred times a day.

She's also gotten very playful.  She plays with toys constantly.  She
had a rough life before, so I think her childhood was delayed.  :-)

Mitch,
Thanks for the update and the good news.  What did you do about your
allergies?

Flonase and Clarinex.  So far, so good.  Thank you for asking.

Mitch,
Thank you for making the adjustments for the sake of giving this cat a home.
You will find that she will reward you more than you could imagine.
I have been looking at some information on clicker training for cats.  Some
of these people do amazing things with their cats, including agility
courses.  I'll bet your cat, with all that energy, would take to it really
well.
I hope that you will also educate your neighbor as to the declaw procedure
in case she decides to adopt a cat.
Please let us know how you and your cat are doing. And, what is her name?

They don't care.  They really don't.
It's all about how easy and convenient it is for them.  You can tell
them in graphic detail what declawing entails, and they say "Oh,
that's too bad.  Well, our cats are very happy, so I'm sure it must be
okay."

Sounds like you've made one deserving kitty very happy:))
Besides, I am quite happy with my cat's training, too: Xena isn't too tough
on me, and as long as I learn my lessons quickly, and obey her commands, she
doesn't ask too much, LOL!
Regards, Andr0:)

Great to hear!

I've got one cat that does great with the spray bottle approach and two
who don't. I wish they were all so easy to train. heh

Really! Nothing seems to work with Boots. If I ever consider keeping a
kitten again I hope someone will shake me till I come to my senses. It's
older cats for me from now on.

It's not really just the age. I've had easy kittens and PITA kittens.
*G*

Though personally, I'll always get adults from now on just because
kittens are so much easier to place and I feel bad for the adults who
are so deserving of homes. They're only kittens for 8 months or so.
