Well I finally got Peepers in for his Ultrasound, delayed somewhat by a
heart attack of my own.

The results indicate some very slight thickening of the walls and Septa(?
hope I have that right) and some turbulence in the right ventricle if I
remember correctly as to side.  The shocker was his very high beat rate (240
to 260 beats per minute); and given what I was told, a normal cat even
stressed out should not go above the 160 to 200 beats per minute this does
not sound good.  I also had them give a test to check the thyroid levels as
they will need that to help determine how to treat him.

Given his well developed ability to avoid getting anything into his stomach
that he doesn't want, I will likely end un smearing some medication in his
ear to be absorbed through his skin and also liquified meds that I can
squirt into the back of his mouth where he must swallow.  I don't know how I
would ever get a pill into this cat.

I asked for an early prognosis giving a five year survival time and the vet
indicated that since this is so early in the process that medication has a
good chance of  keeping  him going at least that long, as she has a cat with
the same problem going into an even longer time after discovery and her cat
was in worse condition at the start.  Sounds hopeful.

I'm so sorry to hear that - I hope you are recovering well and fully!

You can get a compounding pharmacist to mix the meds with chicken or
tuna flavored liquid.  My cats are on atenelol for heart troubles, and
the get it mixed in with canned food - they don't even know it's
there!

Well, they are going to let me go back to work next week so I am recovering.
I will need to go to a Cardiac Care (Rehab?) unit to test my limits and get
me back to something resembling normal and that will take longer though.  In
the meantime my orders are minimize physical labour and avoid stairs at all
costs.until a cardiologist says otherwise.

That is very hopeful and all the more reason for you to eat healthy too!

If it hasn't been done already, it is important to have Peepers' blood
pressure checked, too.

From the sound of it Peepers is in pretty good shape and with medication I
bet Peepers will be just fine.  Sounds like you are also on the road to
recovery and having Peepers will aid a great deal in your own recovery.

  Best of luck,

  Today is not your day.
  Tomorrow doesn't look good either.

Thanks.  We will both work on getting better and keeping going, even if it
does take medication to do so now.
