WOW!
This makes me think that Xena might live till 40!!!!!!
Our Vet recommended adding a bit of chicken soup (or rather gelly from
chicken soup) to make Science Diet tastier. Xena doesn't think so. Congrats,
Sebastian!!!!!

It is possible! Sebastian only blocked once, two years ago. That was when
I tried the IVD dry version of their FUS formula. He did fine on the
canned. Nothing else had changed. So it was back to the formula mentioned
below. He got put on the extra water in his food (so it is the consistency
of oatmeal or porridge--he thinks he's getting more food!) when he had some
many crystals the irritation caused polyps in his bladder. That was when he
was 3. He's been getting the little bit of water in his canned food ever
since.

yeah, i add a little bit of warm water to george's food too ...it is like
porridge consistency...whatever it takes to make sure the flow continues.

Unfortunately, Xena hates Science diet enough as it is, add anything and it
is history, LOL! Fortunately, dry S/D diet is her FAV! and that is what
dissolves those dreaded crystals (I love crystals heaps, but not in my cat's
bum)...well, I just give her a bit of science wet food as is at a time, but
majority of S/D. Will catch an extra sample of her wee for the vets (they
are true angels as far as I am concerned).

My vet also has me putting cosequin in george's food. Did you ever have
that reocommendation? It's so interesting comparing notes here. :)
What is both fascinating and perplexing to me is that the first vet I
went to didn't recommend fluids. george was re-hosptalized twice, which is
what lead me to taking him to the vet school hospital for a second
opinion. The fluids every few days really have helped him come around. But
it sounds like a lot of vets don't send people home with fluids. I don't
know whether george would be coming around without them. A week ago, I was
thinking the "e" word. Bewildering to me. The ultrasound showed what may
be very, very early kidney disease, but the vet said his kidney levels are
all normal, and this episode wasn't about his kidneys.
Perplexing.

No, I don't know what cosequin is. Sebastian's first vet was a cat only vet
and he wanted to put him on Ovaban for the FUS! That was when I decided to
switch vets. I guess there are some good ones and some bad ones out there.

cosequin is glucosamine and condroiton...what humans take for
arthritis...supposed to help the bladder lining.

I think a lot of vets do not keep up on feline research. FLUTD (formerly FUS
and constantly mutating in name) seems to be constantly being updated.
Apparently, this is something that they find worth researching because it
seems similar in humans and felines (from what I've read.)
