My cats wouldn't touch it.  I BARF feed my dogs and decided to try with the
cats as well, but it did not go over well!

My cats eat a homemade raw diet.  They've been on it for approximately 3 1/2
years and are doing really great on it.  If you do decide to try it with your
cats, I would recommend really doing your research to feed a properly balanced
diet.  It's not rocket science, but cats do have some very specific nutritional
needs.  I have a link in my sig for more info if you're interested.

Yes, it has been discussed at length in this group.  I think that the
general consensus of opinion is that the diet is fine but plenty of research
is required prior to proceeding and there is a lot more work
(preparation/shopping etc) involved than you might imagine if you are going
to really give the cat a balanced diet.  It is definately a lot more work
than just buying a can of cat food off the shelf

The cat that I had as a child / teenager was always fed raw food and she
lived to be approx. 18.  For years I always assumed that that was what all
cats ate but with the benefit of hindsight (and after reading some of the
previous posts with regard to this subject) I can see that we lived in a
very rural setting and I suppose she supplemented her diet with mice / birds
etc in addition to what we fed her.  I think on balance, in our case, it was
probably more luck than judgement.
