First step, a vet appt. Possible UTI. That can easily cause inappropriate
peeing. My male cat started peeing in the cat bed, on laundry, & in a
cardboard box - all of a sudden - about 3 years ago. A couple of courses of
antibiotics later, it was cleared up.

Also clean the spot really well with an enzymatic cleaner. Get it really
clean, and then cover the spot with tinfoil and perhaps set something on top
of that. Definitely get him a vet check.

Thanks. He checked out okay. I ordered some Nature's Miracle and a Stink
Finder (because it seems odd that it didn't seem to smell and isn't
discolored, although he definitely peed on the box). He did not
appreciate having urine extracted, by the way. The veterinarians know
him well, and the one saw him and immediately called for backup. :)
(He's dominant, aggressive, and not altogether tame.) The veterinarian
says he's upset about something, but I don't know what.
I assume tinfoil is meant to be a deterrent, but this cat would simply
eat it. No kidding.

Ooo. Dat be bad. Well, cleaning it well then. If worse came to worse you
could put a box there and gradually move it to where it should be, or place
a big object there. I had a cat once whose pee did not stink either. I've no
idea why. She lives with my mom now. SHe only peed inappropriately if I left
her overnight. She grew out of it in her older age when she gained much
confidence from being in one house all the time.

Thanks. Apparently, he's healthy ($66.45 later :). Upset about
something, although hard to tell what. I just found a box in the same
general area he'd peed on, too, so whatever started him might have
originated with it. We'll see what happens . . . I'm going to try to
give him some extra attention in case that's the issue.
