First, some background info. Yesterday we rented a pick-up truck to
carry a few large items that don't fit in Tom's station wagon. We bought
a rather large savanna holly (the money they charged for delivery easily
paid for the truck rental) tree and we also picked up a gigantic pot
with black bamboo that some friends of ours donated for our garden. :)
Tom also went and got some limestone to finally finish lining the little
lawn space in the back garden.
So, we brought the *huge* bamboo clump (the pot it is in is 36 inches
across) and decided to put it next to the cat porch to give them a bit
of shade and perhaps some roughage. I mean, bamboo is just grass on
steroids, right?
Anyhow, the cats loved the bamboo and apparently it is good roughage
with the intended consequences. This morning I found a barf all over my
black everyday leather shoes. Luckily, none fell inside the shoes! A
little water and a paper towel and the shoes are back to the way they
were. Rufous was seen eating bamboo a few minutes ago, will have to keep
an eye on him.

As you say, it could have been worse. Of course the cats are far more
important that any shoes, glad they're enjoying the bamboo.

they *eat* it? Holy cow! I'd like to hear updates on how they do with
that! Tucker goes through cat grass like it grows wild LOL

Wow, what a productive day! I'm sure they'll love the bamboo, I've
got a bunch of huge vases in the house with those bamboos that spring
roots in water. Vino is always nibbling at them and I've given up
trying to get him to stop. He loves it and the leaves are only a bit
frayed around the edges.
