After we started putting the floor down in the office, I finally got tired
of tripping over the cats so I put their litter boxes inside and locked the
cat flap that leads into the garage.  When we were finally finished, it must
have seemed to the cats to have changed magically into a different room.

Today Jessie (who usually chills out upstairs all day) kept coming in the
cat flap that leads from the garage into my office.  She must have done this
a hundred times today - come in the cat flap, look around, and then leave.
A few minutes later she would come in the cat flap, look around, and then
leave.

I could just hear her little kitty brain thinking.  Nope, it hasn't changed
again.  Nope, it's still the same as last time.  Nope, not changed this time
either.  LOL - I wish it were as easy to change a room as she seems to think
it is!!!  ;>

LOL- I can picture that!
Like what you did with your office.  Love the floor.  The new paint
color and the airy curtains soften the angles of the room..  I liked
where you had the file cabinet beside the built-in bookcase--don't see
it after the reveal.  Just notice because I keep moving things around
in mine, trying to figure out something that makes me happy.  Haven't
got there yet!

Thank you!  As you said, it is a very oddly-shaped, angular room - long and
narrow (in fact twice as long as it is wide), so it was really hard to
soften that.  The absolute worst thing about it (besides the torn, dirty,
*ICKY* carpeting*) was the dark maroon bottom half of the walls and the
used-to-be-white-before-a-smoker-stained-them-with-years-and-years-of-tar-an
d-nicotine upper half and ceiling.  The yucky nicotine-yellow on top and the
yellow-on-top-of-the-maroon on bottom would have depressed even somebody who
wasn't already feeling that way.  And since I've been working from home, I'm
stuck in here all day, every day.

LOL - that old file cabinet is *SO* ugly I wouldn't let DH put it back into
the room.  It's still in the garage.  I'm considering getting some metal
paint and painting it white - then I might put it back.

* You wouldn't have believed the carpet in that room - the "wall-to-wall"
carpeting was only around the outer 1 foot from the walls.  Then a cheap,
imitation oriental rug was put in the middle of the room on bare concrete!

Yea, I've been thinking about painting mine...or decopaging it with
newspaper ads or something!
