Smudge update 2

Sorry if this is getting tedious.  I brought Smudge home after borrowing a
cage from my vet - just cost a refundable deposit.

She will not be able to stay home.  She absolutely demands freedom of the
apartment.  After eating her salmon pate, she started throwing litter,
towel, waterbowl around and digging into the paper that I stuck under all
that as well as meowing at the top of her lungs.  She looked way to vigorous
for safety with a dislocated hip.  The fact that I was there and she was at
home just inflamed her.  I couldn't take the risk that she would hurt
herself doing that and she scared Peepers into hiding and after two hours
plus he still has yet to show his head.

I was forced to put her back into the carrier and took her to her regular
vet to board her for two weeks.  I've told them that I would be visiting on
a regular basis even though the time of day that is best for me is worst for
them.  They just want me to call ahead.

I was afraid that heat might be a problem in my unairconditioned place, it
never occured to me that her behaviour would be the real problem.  It was
going to be a long two weeks now it is going to be an even longer two weeks.
I know it could be longer but rarely is before the cat can be let out of the
cage.

Oh dear :(  Maybe you could try again in a couple of days. She may have
learned to adjust by that time. Poor baby and poor *you*! I know it's hard.

No apologies are necessary. I'm sorry Smudge has to stay at the vets.
Purrs for her to recover asap, and purrs for you, you must be exhausted
with all you and Mudge have been through the last couple of days.

Thanks for the support.  The regular vet looked at the xrays and indicated
that it may actually be less than 2 weeks (I hope so) as there is so little
apparent damage but only time will tell.

Not tedious at all, just sharing your troubles. Typical lady cat to not
know
what's best for her (only IMHO)  :-)

Purrs that neither of you are too distressed during the next fortnight
and that she heals fast & well.

Thanks, I am hoping for speed but not really counting on it as there are too
many other things that could go wrong here.

I'm so sorry to hear this -- I came late to this thread but I'm sending
purrs for her from our five kitties and for you and your nerves during this
trial.

Awww - poor Smudge and what a worry for you.  Sometimes (most of the time)
cats just don't do what's best for themselves and be quiet while they heal.
I hope she heals sooner than expected and that you can start to relax.  What
a scare you've had!

I am so sorry it isn't working out to have her at home. Those two
weeks will be heart-breaking for both of you; but you know the hip
will be healing well by the time she comes back home. And that is the
important thing. Hugs and purrs and smurgles,

No, never tedious. Poor Smudge.  It's these times that we wish we could
speak to them and explain what the problem is. Poor baby.

TBH, Larry, although everyone is "unhappy" this way, it would have been
waaaaay more stressful for both you and Smudge if you'd had to keep her
confined at home, and for Peepers too - especially if she threw such a
temper tantrum.

Purrs that she is on the mend soon and she is home.

Sending belated good wishes for poor Smudge to recover quickly and purrs for
your nerves after such a horrible shock (pun not intended..)

I don't find posts for support tedious at all.  We all need it sometimes and
where better to find it than here.
Please keep updating though.  I for one find myself worrying about sick or
injured kitties on the group and really do *need* to know the outcome,
hopefully good, when I rejoice, and occasionally bad, when I grieve a
little.

The way things are at the moment, unless something startling happens there
will be little if anything to report for almost two weeks and I hope that is
what happens.  At this point, no news is news that things are progressing as
expected.

So I'm hoping things are going well, since I don't see an update. We are
purring for Smudge, and for you and Peepers too. it's distressing when
one of the family is missing.

No not tedious at all. We want to get updates on Smudge.
It is better she stays at the vet. They can monitor her better and the vet
is
there just in case. She may not like to be caged there, but she will get
used to it. My cats Rusty knows all about staying at the vet. He can telport
down to visit with Smudge as we are only a couple hours from Toronto.

I am so sorry.  This has to be hard on you.  I know I'd be going nuts
for two weeks missing my baby.

Just try to keep busy, and remember this will pass, and things will
get back to normal soon.

Nothing tedious here, and I know from personal experience that it
helps to post about a sick/injured master/mistress.

Purrs that she heals more quikcly than the original estimate, and is
able to come home soon
