I think I know the reason Abelard is staying home more than ever before: He
adores Beatrice, as the kitten he didn't get to play with while he was
growing up. The only time she leaves him alone when she's awake is when she
plays with Eli or Billy. Eli has a LOT of patience with her. Billy mostly
plays too rough for her. But with Abelard, she has a lot of fun. He even
initiates a play session sometimes.

It sounds like Beatrice is the best thing for Abelard. He must have
been lonely.
