No, news reports I have seen say that the mother panda was enticed away from
the little one for a short time (with a "bamboo treat") and the baby was
handled just long enough to evaluate its health -- which appears to be
excellent. Then the two were immediately reunited. There is a web cam that
shows mother and baby together.
