Since makig the transition to house kitty, Harri has adjusted quite
nicely. Sha has taken on new responsibilities to replace the important
jobs she used to do out in the truck. One of her most importnat new jobs
is that of shower-time personal bodyguard.
When I step in to the shower Harri has been sitting on the edge of the
bathtub, between the inner and outer shower curtains. She occasionally
talks to me, telling me that I really should hurry and get out because it
CAN'T be healthy to have all those water-monsters attacking your body. She
also makes sure that her obnoxious Ranger brother doesn't do anything
annoying in the bathroom while one of her humans is showering.
This morning, though, she displayed true courage. I had a very bad night
last night (being the only System Admin for an Internet company means I'm
on call 24 hours a day, and having my pager go off at midnight, 2 AM, 4
AM, and 6 AM makes for a very tiring night). When I get in to the shower I
stood for a couple of minutes with my head under the water, just letting
the warm water relax my tense muscles. I heard Harri's usual "Hey, hurry
up!" call, but it was a lot louder than usual. I turned around to look -
and Harri was in the shower with me! She was in the far end where very
little water was falling, and she hopped out as soon as she saw me moving
again, but my brave little bodyguard had jumped into the shower with all
those nasty watermonsters to make sure that her Paw was ok!
She got some extra cuddles before I left this morning, and will get some
extra Shrimpies and Tuna gooshy food tonight.

It's growing back slowly. She now has orange fuzz in the areas that were
shaved. Fortunately it's growing in a little quicker on her paws where
they shaved for her IVs, so her paws look quite a bit less like she has
some sort of funky lion cut :)

I suspect she worries that you will go down the drain just as the water
does. Purrs for the furkids. MLB

What a good girl!
Who said cats act only out of enlightened self-interest?
There again, maybe she had advance knowledge of the possible treats....

Be careful. Harri may end up like Tyche, and want to join you in the
shower ALL THE TIME.

It's so wonderful to hear that not only Harri is doing well but that she is
also your very own body guard who is not afraid of water if you need to be
rescued.
Best wishes and hopes for you to be able to be home more, Dan,

> Best wishes and hopes for you to be able to be home more, Dan,
I did get that system admin job I applied for a few months earlier. I'm
not sure whether I mentioned it before, but I've now been working a desk
job for four weeks. The kitties have loved it, and Nancy and I have had a
good time of it too! I've been working a lot of late hours, but that will
slow down in the next month or so when I get all the servers up to date.
It is sure obvious that these folks went a few months without a system
admin before they hired me!
Harri has really been enjoying the new situation. I get to do a lot of
Harri snuggles now - more even than when we were in the truck. Now instead
of taking an arm nap while I drive she takes arm naps while I watch TV or
read. It's wonderful.

Even working long hours, you have to be home much more than before. I'm so
glad for you all.
