Yes, another kitten. This one was out back, but I am sure it is a
littermate to the one we found Sunday. About the same age. More timid
than the first one, that's probably why it stayed hidden longer. I hope
there aren't any more out there.

The problem now is, it has a scabby sore over one eye. It doesn't look
like the ringworm I've seen before. If any of you guys have any
experience with ringworm, please take a look at this and tell me if it
looks like that to you. Poor little bugger.

I can't get it in to the vet till tomorrow and I'm sure he will tell me
for sure if that's what it is. In the meantime, I've got the poor
little thing in the garage. I can't risk getting ringworm spores all
over the house. It's too hot in the garage today for it. I put a fan
out there, and there's 1 window, but it's still too hot. If I thought
it was something else, I'd put it in a bedroom.

Just like I said yesterday. It's always one step forward and 2 steps
back. I am so discouraged. If this kitten has ringworm, it means the
other one is probably infected with the fungus and just not showing
outward signs. They'll both have to be quarantined. This one won't ever
be adopted until the hair grows back and that will be a long time. I
hate to take it to the shelter. They have enough problems without
risking a ringworm-outbreak there.
Purrs appreciated. Thanks for listening. I don't sit here and type and
bawl at the same time very often, but this is one of those days.

Doesn't look like ringworm to me. It looks more like a local inflammation in
the skin, so it's better to keep it away from other cats until you get it to
the vet.

I don't know what ringworm looks like, sorry. All I can do is send purrs
that the little one is basically healthy and will find a loving home.

I've only ever seen ringworm in photos of children who ran barefooted
through (ahem) dog poop.  Purrs for the little one.  Keep him/her isolated
and let us know the results.  God, you are so patient to deal with all of
this!

Looks like an injury to me, not ringworm .  Just my opinion; as there are
marks on the muzzle and also higher up on the face.  I'd say he had a little
accident/encounter of some sort.

That's what I was thinking too.

I agree with Tweed it looks as if skin was rubbed or scraped off. I
confess I've had ringworm and it didn't look like an open wound.

Oh, no!  I'm so sorry to see that, but I am *so happy* that this poor little
thing foisted himself/herself on someone like you who will provide good vet
care.  I don't know what the problem is (except that it looks like a severe
wound, possibly even caused by insect bites and rubbing/scratching), but I
am *very* aware of how important it is to get immediate attention for
anything that involves the eyes.  My little Duffy was born blind, but many
more cats lose their sight due to neglect.  In fact, the feline
ophthalmologist told me that Duffy's blindness was probably caused by
infection in the mother -- so that sounds like his mother was neglected.

Thanks for taking care of this kitten!

HRFL had ring worm as a kitten, and this looks nothing like that. Also,
it's really easy to treat in that even if the spores are in the house,
double dose everyone with "program" (the flea treatment that goes in the
food and sterilises the fleas) and it's a proven method of killing
ringworm rather than lots of tablets of gruisofulvin.

(Under the advice of my vet) I also used canesten anti fungal cream
effectively on the ringworm patches on HRFL to prevent the spreading of
the spores. It cleared it up remarkably well.

Good on you for being so compassionate to look after these little ones.
It really looks like a scrape injury to me, and NOT ringworm.

We are purring for you and the kittens.  I've never had experience with
ringworm, so cannot give an opinion.  However, from the coloration, that
is going to be a beautiful cat if it makes it.  Do you suppose they were
dumped by a person who figured you would take care of  them?  How old do
they appear to be?  Best wishes.   MLB

Oh, yeah, I'm sure whoever dumped them knows me. Everybody knows I am
affiliated with the shelter. We're too far out of the way for it to be
random. There's a recreation lake, but it's about a mile away. That's
too far for a kitten to travel. I would guess they are about 4 months
old. It's hard to tell because they're skinny. So I think they're older
than they look.
Thanks for the purrs!

My gosh it's got gorgeous markings. That looks almost like  a burn to me. I
seriously wonder if those kittens weren't thrown out of a moving car :(

Poor little ones.  Purrs that everything works out for them.

Purrs for bitties.  They will give you the kitty luv for all you've
done for them.

Looks more like a scrape to me.  Does he have any scrape marks on his paws
(like maybe he was tossed from a car)?
Hopitus - 03 Aug 2005 02:50 GMT
I vote for "infected trauma injury". I never saw any ringworm like that.

I'm voting for that, too.  I never had to deal with a cat with either
ringworm nor injuries from a scrape or scrap, but it doesn't look like
ringworm to me.  Especially in light of the other scabby spots on the poor
bitty's face.

She or he looks quite cute and content to be with you.  I hope its eye
boo-boo gets better.
Rhonda - 03 Aug 2005 05:19 GMT
No Sherry, you're taking lots of steps forward. Each kitty that comes
across your path is much better off than before. Every time you see a
formerly sickly kitten now healthy and playing -- you've got to know
what a huge step forward you've given that cat.

Purrs, Sherry, that it's not as bad as you fear and that the bittie can be
put right soon.
