Went out today and left the door closed with cat flap set to "In Only" so
Bea wouldn't get out. She's one of the four (out of seven) who have yet to
figure out how to open the cat flap to go out when it's set this way. The
other three are Baby Eyes (who does not care), Eli and Abelard (who do
care).

I wanted Bea to stay in because the horses are right behind the house for a
few days, and although she has not been out when the horses are close, and
generally stays in the front, I don't know yet if she is afraid to run
amongst their hooves or not, and didn't want to risk it.

So when I got back and opened the door, there was Eli with a medium sized
mousie in his mouth. Both he and Beatrice ran out into the yard while I put
away the groceries. Next time I looked, Beatrice had the mousie in *her*
mouth.

I am not sure if this mousie was a gift from Eli, or if Beatrice caught it
in the house and Eli took it away from her and then let her take it back. In
any event, I got a few pics of Bea with the mousie and posted them in my
Yahoo album (along with some of my older pics).

The pics of Bea with the mousie are right at the beginning, at:

Cute pics! That girl has *grown*!
I wonder if Eli was teaching her to hunt?

Could be, but it would have to have occurred indoors. I wonder if my house
with so many felines in residence still harbors any rodents.... Eli is a
wonderful babysitter, he spends countless hours entertaining little Bea. In
fact he spends more time with her than Billy and Abelard combined spend with
her, and they both pay her a good bit of attention. Not a day passes here
without at least one wild kitten-wrestling match. Bea with Eli or Billy is
hilarious, because those guys are three times the size of Abelard.

What a lovely bunch of cats you have there, Pat. They are all beauties in
their own ways.
No pic of Baby Eyes?

I seem to recall a couple of failed upload attempts.

OK, I just added more pics to the album and she is there now.

A house is not a home, without a cat.

LOL!  Rigor mortis tail!   However, it's a start, well done Beatrice kitten.
Live ones to come soon, and you will now be ready..

KFC, that mousie was alive and well when my meowmie took the pictures, I
chased it around in the grass for another half-hour or so after posing for
the camera.

Ah, that's good for such a little kitty as you, Beatrice.  Welcome to the
sisterhood of hunting wimmincats.  If I might offer a word of advice;  don't
carry the prey around in your mouth alive.  Give its neck a good crunch
straight away and then eat it.
When you go back home you can then turn up your nose at the food your
meowmie has provided - because of course, you are not hungry.  She will then
panic and think you might be ill.  Catch yourself another few mousies and do
it again.
You will then be surprised at what delicacies your meowmie will get for you.

KFC
P.S. While pulling this scam it helps if you sleep a lot and do not play.
It's worth it..

WOW - KFC, I was not with my four-legged meowmie long enough to learn that.
Thank you! I love TREATS....

Awww, good for Bea!  Your kitties are gorgeous.  Your Tommy looks an
awful lot like my Hubie, except Hubert's whiskers turn down more.  He's
got a Fu Manchu thing going on.  :-)
