The never ending Perils of Pearl

Poor girl has such troubles. She has often had trouble with bouts of
diarrhea but more so since we discovered her heart trouble. Last night she
was soooooo uncomfortable. And when she is uncomfortable she wants to eat.
Then she throws up because she ate too much and because of the diarrhea (you
know how that makes you feel). So I called the vet today, since pumpkin
doesn't seem to be doing the trick and now we have Hills w/d. I sure hope
this does the trick. I noticed it doesn't have corn (which Iwas concerned
about because much of Hills does and Ireeeeallly think Pearl has a problem
with corn). She certainly hoovered it up (it really looks pretty
appetizing), although, Pearl hoovers up most food pretty well. They've had
great success with chronic diarrhea cats on this stuff clearing up. I
noticed that the vetinfo site mentioned the same thing in persistant
diarrhea cases. I seriously think if we could lick the diarrhea, should
would be in pretty good shape despite the heart and stuff. Any wayward purrs
would be appreciated. Sugar is picking up on all the illness stuff and
beginning to lick her arm bare. *sigh*

Purrs for Pearl (and for Sugar to not be so distressed by all this).

Purrs for poor Pearl. And purrs for Sugar, too. Yoda is licking his arm
bare, too. Too many stray kittens around. They get on his nerves I
guess.

Um, please don't lick diarrhea.  Other than that, many purrs for
Pearl to feel better and for this new food to help her in that regard.

Have you tried Metamucil mixed in wet food?  I don't know what the dosage
is, you may want to ask your vet about it.  We did this for a cat at the
shelter with diarrhea and it worked great.  He was also on w/d wet and dry,
with the Met. mixed in his wet food once a day.

It may come to that if this doesn't work. Seems like a LOT of fiber to mix
metamucil and the w/d.

Purrs for your furry family.

Mine eats w/d most of the time and they do well on it.

Rusty had diarrhea last year for a long time. We finally switched him
to Hill's I/D and with the first can of I/D, the diarrhea stopped right
away. You may want to ask your vet about  I/D.

w/d is for cats that needs to lose weight. Is Pearl overweight?
i/d's ingredient is mainly turkey. I suspect Rusty also has problem with
corn. When I first adopted him, I put him on Pro Plan as suggested
by the vet. He pooped on the floor. When I switched him back to the
old food (forgot the brand) he got at Humane, it stopped right away.
I heard Pro Plan has corn in it.
His diarrhea last year started about the same time Waltham was sold
to Royal Canin and he was on Waltham's ph S/O. I suspected the
formula might be  changed a bit. I gave him pumpkin, Metamucil, pineapple
juice, yogurt, lactobacillus, acidophilus. Nothing helped until we switched
to i/d. The vet said to stay on it, even when its not a food
for urinary problems of which Rusty has a history.
I make sure Rusty gets plenty of water.

Purrs going out to Pearl from Rusty. Please keep us posted.

She is a few pounds overweight. I noticed that one the site the cans show
"corn flour" (which is maybe not so bad), but on my cans of w.d it is oat
fiber. The descriptions for what it does is pretty similar but fat content
is lower in the w/d.

Many purrs for Pearl to get over feeling poorly, poor thing.  Purrs for her
worried Meowmie, too.

Poor Pearl. Many purrs for her, and for Sugar and you, too. I think
Frank is allergic to wheat and maybe other grains, as well. Another good
reason not to feed him dry. He gets gassy diarrhoea and throws up more
than usual if I give him something with too much grains in it by accident.

Corn is attractive to eat but I have heard it is often an allergen as
well as being hard ot digest. Purrs for Pearl and for Sugar.
