I brought him home yesterday lunchtime. Only 1 miaow during the
40-minute journey, which he spent snuggled up in the nearest corner to
me of the large-dog-sized carrier.
Raki the d-pet rushed up to greet me as I hefted the carrier indoors.
Claudius hissed, arched his back and fluffed himself up when confronted
by such a comparative giant. Raki left in a hurry & returned to his
kennel under my desk.
After a bit of exploration I let Snowball meet the newbie. Claudius
hissed, arched, etc., so Snowball hissed back. C stopped, but S has
carried on ever since. I think this friendship is going to take a while.
(Note from Snowball: I know I told you to get me a new kitten playmate
but not THIS one, he's too feisty!)
Then it was time for the intro to Bandit. B, bless him, is a sweet &
friendly soul and touched noses & sniffed like a good 'un. Later he even
shared a dish of cooked fresh chicken pieces with C - no hisses or spats
whatever. He even allowed his tail to be ambushed several times. Same
again today, with just 1 warning when C got too importunate & playful. I
can see this working out OK.
C (full name Tempestuous Claudius Destructivus as he's already tried
sabotaging the phone and computer lines {his Roman namesake was Tiberius
Claudius Drusus}) is a real fireball, but thankfully in fairly short
bursts. He's peeing and pooping regularly and tidily and is a real
smurglebunny, loving to cuddle up under my chin & groom my beard
[aaawww].

I agree with what Catnipped said. Claudius is a gorgeous little guy,
Gordon. Lucky you. =o) It sounds as if he might be a potential Hoolikitten,
as well. Congratulations on and to the newest member of your family!

Such a beautiful boy! Sounds like a lively addition to the household,
and Bandit is so sweet for being patient with him. I'm sure Snowball and
Raki will come round in time.

Sounds like very good progress to me. Bandit really is a sweetheart,
isn't he? I hope Frank is like that to Leo. He was very friendly towards
Miranda's brother Emil when they first met on the island, but then Emil
is a very non-aggressive young lad. (He mostly rolls over whenever
another cat approaches...) Oh, can't wait to get leo home. I'm sure he
would like to compare notes with Claudius (and you can only blame
yourself for giving him such a name. That's just tempting fate).

Today Snowball's still as unhappy as ever but I expect he'll settle down
eventually.
I've re-read my Suetonius (The Twelve Caesars) in the Robert Graves
translation
rather than the Latin - I've forgotten all that - that inspired his
books "I, Claudius"
and "Claudius the God" and compared to what went before and came after
he
was a wonderful chap. So I'm not afraid. Yet. :-)
Purrs for the settling in of your tribe (I always think it should be a
Chaos of Cats)
