I urge all of you to take any serious suspicions of illegal activity
to your local law enforcement cybercrimes division. They will know
how to proceed--across state lines, in the US, and internationally.
Posting in Usenet is one thing: sending email or US mail into
the home or workplace of an individual is a whole other issue,
and can be prosecuted. Law enforcement agencies may issue
subpoenas in that instance.
By the same token, posting in Usenet just to defame someone
is different from just "speaking one's mind." There are legal
criteria by which to determine intention. Mary's intention
was indeed to speak her mind. Her posting of full names
cannot be construed as anything illegal since both Dan
and Monica posted their full names willingly many times.
However, Jill is right. Far from being a fan of Mary, I made
complaints to both of her servers. (That is how I know
which ones she used to post.) I just want you to be careful.
There is more to this issue than meets the eye.
Mary is an irresponsible bitch. She is not, however, the
perpetrator of cyber crimes. One person who is posts to
both this and the health group and had been largely
absent for a while. This person may be traced via
telephone records.
All I am saying: you don't know something for sure,
don't announce it. Don't play into the hands of those
who wish you harm. Wait for the other "shoe to drop."
It will, and soon. I don't want it to drop on any of
you because you are gullible.

Do please let us know her name as soon as you can - I'm dying of suspense.
I can't wait to see if it is who I think it is! ;>

It is the duty of anyone to report crime immediately. If you have any clues
as to who is perputrator, please do something NOW. It doens't need to be
reported to this group, just make sure the children are safe.
