On this mornings bike ride some turkeys crossed the road and I
daydreamed how it took a year or so after I moved here before I saw
turkey and, given how often they're around since, it was surprising in
retrospect.  Coveys of up to a couple dozen with 4 or 5 adults are
common.  Now at home I'm reading the paper when I hear a strange noise
and, soon enough, a gobbler emerges from the decks shadow - and there's
Quinn here on the deck, crouched down and intent.  The mate shows up and
4 little ones, a wee gathering but plenty to interest Quinn.  Eventually
exeunt east and Quinn settles down.

Incidentally a few days ago I heard a strange noise below the deck, a
cat in pain?  I jump up and there's Loos, crying out in pride around a
mouse in mouth - her first catch I'm sure.  Quinn jumped up to view then
ran around and down as I went for the camera.  Alas, by the time I got
back Loos had given up her catch to Quinn's avarice and a Trophy Moment
was missed.  Norm
