Fez and Rufous don't seem to want to act like full-grown cats, even
though they're 2 years old now. Pretty much every morning they engage in
a wrestling session, like boy brothers often do. Rufous does a very
unusual thing, that I've never seen before. He stands on his back legs,
like a kangaroo, and holds it while looking menacingly at his brother.
Fez will then jump and tackle his brother and they'll tussle for a
while. There's never any real violence, it seems like honest play fight
that sometimes gets somewhat rough, but still within bounds.
Do any of your cats do the kangaroo pose?

Girl sisters do too...Kumani and Tyche, also at 2 years old, must Beat
Up Their Sister! at least once a day.

They don't do the kangaroo thing though.  Tyche has this weird thing
where she lies on her back, waits for Kumani to get close and then
closes her legs around Kumani's head like a venus flytrap.

What an excellent idea for a series of vignettes...

Presto (RB) used to do this.

Senyah used to babysit a little three year-old girl named Tamara -
the only kid Presto would tolerate. He would stand up on his hind
legs, and they would box with each other.

Mostly, he would slap at her, and she would block his slaps. He had
no front claws, but according to Tamara, he could still pack a punch
(grin).

It's a good thing he doesn't because I might die laughing.  Oh my!

Yep, Sammy does this too.  Don't you love it?  ;>

Molly and Jake "fight" and I've seen Jake do it.  Molly should be about two
now and Jake is seven but they still have their evening chase and wrestle.
Before the little dogs died of old age, Jake would wrestle with them.  It
was unbelievable to watch.  But they used no teeth or claws and loved it.

I hope when we board the cats the place doesn't lose their nerve and
separate them.  I probably would if they weren't my cats and I hadn't seen
this a thousand times.  Only injury we've ever had was a scratched cornea on
one dog one time years ago.  Well, and both cats have little scabs on their
necks, same as I have little pin hole scabs on my hands and arms a lot of
the time.

Stosh is 2 &1/2, Brandy a year & 1/2, and they still act like little kids;
that's why I call them my Juvenile Delinquents (as opposed to Roxie and
Odessa, The Ladies.) These two will literally spend hours wrasslin. Every
now and then I'll see the kangaroo pose, though most of the time it's more
like demolition derby, each crashing into the other and rolling around like
you'd see in the Tasmanian Devil cartoons. And this morning, while Stosh was
on the armrest of the loveseat, Brandy jumped two feet up and boxed Stosh's
ears!

Blessed be,
Baha

LOL! Yeah, that about sums up Captain and Stanley's antics, too. One
morning, after the cats had apparently spent the night wrestling from one
end of the basement to the other, DH took a look down there and said, "It
looks like the aftermath of a bar fight".

Who needs a cyclone when you have a couple of cats rough-housing around?

When I visited the PetCo Kittiez last weekend, they had a bumper crop
of kittens (especially tabbies), and when you stood back from the wall
of cages, it looked like rows of popcorn poppers, with the playing
kittens popping on each other in each cage.  Quite a sight.

Nina and her mother have a wrestling match every night after I've turned out
the lights.  I'm pretty sure it's playtime, but I think Cesca gets a little
annoyed to be mauled by her child every night.  They're almost the same
size, now.

Ditto on having two full-sized kitties that behave like a pair of kittens.
Captain and Stanley are 15 months old, but they still chase everything
that moves. Especially each other. :o)

They have knocked over so many things, as they pursue one another
throughout the house with reckless abandon, that I lost count a long time
ago. And though they LOOK like they're beating the heck out of one another
when they wrestle, I never find any actual evidence of injury, so I'm
guessing that it's all an act.

The boys don't generally do the "kangaroo pose" stance with one another,
but they both stand up as tall as they can on their hind legs, any time
they perceive that one of their humans is reaching out to give them a
skritch on the head. :o)

They also do the "elevator butt" stance for skritches near the base of
their tail. Stanley, in particular, is so flexible that he can do
"elevator butt" with his spine nearly vertical. Twice, I've made the
mistake of giving him a skritch as we walk side-by-side down the stairs...
and twice, he went into "elevator butt" mode right there on the stairs, to
the point where he nearly rolled headfirst down the rest of the steps.
LOL... poor Stanley.

Captain's "Look at me! I'm double-jointed!" trick is a bit safer. When HE
goes into "elevator butt" mode, his tail is so flexible that he can nearly
make it parallel to his spine. If he was able to flex it any farther
forward, he'd have it right against his back like a squirrel. :o)

I do have to say, though -- have a pair of cat-sized kittens in the house
is WAY more entertaining than 99% of what's on television these days. (Not
to mention cuter, fuzzier, and more clever. :o))

LOL!  No, not the "kangaroo" pose but my 2 boys still wrestle at least
3 or 4 times a day.  Casey plops on top of Bobby and holds him down
until Bobby's tail is swishing back and forth and he is crying.  A sort
of baby cry.  Then, they swat each other a while with ears back and fur
flying everywhere.  It is funny to watch; they never hurt each other.
Thought it was a male cat thing.
