Tks Tweed. I just don't want to get attached and have to get rid of her. I
will get attached within hours so I must make a plan. The cat was going to
the pound and here, the pound is a shelter that kills within 7 days. Too
many pets.
I am surprised because this is a purebred Himalayan cat, declawed and has
even won a cat show at some time in her short life. Has a ribbon! I still
don't know why the original owner got rid of her. She is 4 years old. Oh
well. I am stressing at the moment.

I feel so sorry for her, I would take her in a minute. Except that I live
in England..
And even if I didn't, Kitty Farmcat would give her a very hard time ;-)
Someone will come forward for her. She's a very adoptable kitty.
Kudos to you for saving her.

It's a damn shame this happens. But my guess is the usual. Owners had
problems with cat, so had her declawed. As usually happens this made her
behavior and personality worse, not better. In all probability all she was
doing to start with was being a cat. So now that they have already maimed
her they want to dump the responsibility on someone else. (Jerks, creeps,
insert favorite epithet)
And in most cases she will be a nice pet for someone else. My Aunt has two
Himalayans like this she got from a rescue group. One has adjusted into a
pretty nice pet. The other lives under her bed and comes out at night or
when no one is around to eat and use the litter box. Her husband was ready
to have that one put down after it slashed him and put him in the hospital
but their vet talked them out of it.

I think I found a home for her. Tomorrow will be the key. A lady that has
one Himmie and wants another. I have to check it out a little more but she
seems okay. She lives in the same condo development as I.
This precious doll will arrive at 7:30am and I have to keep her in the
bathroom. We will see.

Excellent! Be sure to take photos while she's with you! :)

Purrs the rehoming goes without a hitch. You've done a wonderful thing
in saving her.

All my life I have heard the phrase "get rid of" in reference to pets, and
it has always made me cringe. Please, don't "get rid of" any animal, just
find it a new home. OK?

What did I tell you? You did the right thing and it worked out and she has
a home.. Have faith. It will always work out if you do the right thing, in
the end.
