I was dreaming...

I was young and slender, lounging against the rail of a motorboat. The
sun was shining and there was a soft breeze blowing my long black
hair. I was enjoying the sight of the dolphins cavorting in the gentle
waves with the sea gulls swooping between sea and sky. I was at peace
with the world.

Then the boat rocked and the gulls were screaming and the sky turned
dark. What was happening? Was a giant squid coming up from the depths,
trying to climb into the boat? I could hear a low rumbling coming
closer. Then I felt something brush my ear! A squid's tentacle? Terror
swept through me. The fear kept me frozen, unable to turn around to
see what was creeping up on me.

Then it spoke directly into the echo chamber of my ear: "MEOW!!" With
a flash the boat and the sea were gone and I was alone with the
monster at my ear. But I was gasping as if I had drowned in the
departed sea. I struggled up to the light and realized everytime I
dreamed of water in its myriad forms that I needed to potty. And Sheba
wanted to be fed. So I heaved my old, fat body with gray hair out of
the dreamland setting and reluctantly prepared myself to enter
reality.

Hee! Very cute.

Sigh. I love that cat; but why couldn't she let me be young and
slender and peacefull a little longer. And she could have chosen a
different way to wake me rather than shouting into my ear.

Well, she could've woken you Nocturne style--by dropping the bedside
lamp onto your head.

ROFL!  Sounds like some of the dreams I have!  Persia taps me on the
shoulder and purrs in my ear and issues a "meow" when it looks like I'll
wake up and do her bidding.  I love her, but dangit, 4:00AM?!  And here I am
awake at 2AM and she's comfortably esconsed on the bed snuggled up to my
pillow... (sigh)  I love Persia :)

I think selecting their own time to wake us up is just to show their
power over us. But why do they have to interrupt a really good dream?

Could be worse. I got waked up at 3am the other morning by my upstairs
neighbors, fighting over what just happened (or didn't happen?) in
bed.  I know more about this woman's intimate life than I know about
my best friend's.  They were screaming at each other for a good hour
at least.  This is the same woman who woke me up at 6:30 some Sunday
morning when she found out that her boyfriend was cheating on her.
With a woman who had 2 kids.  Like I said,I know a LOT about her
intimate life.  *sigh*  If I had small children, I'd do some loud
complaining. Their language was pretty raw, and I heard Every Word.
Come to think of it, if it happens again, I just might complain.
Enough's enough.  *yawn*

You should complain.  You have three innocent young cats living with you and
they shouldn't be subjected to raw and suggestive language.  Goodness, they
could start cursing and spouting such filth on their own.

Hot Damn! Now that's a hot dream! I hope your furface didn't wake you
out of it. ;-)) Funny, we just selected the video we want to watch
this weekend: "Ghost" with Patrick Swayze and Whoopi.

Fortunately, she didn't :) I love the film Ghost, it's sad and
funny. I prefer it to Dirty Dancing
The song Unchained Melody is so romantic too, I've forgotten who
originally sang it,
back in the 60's.

Not, however, the original recording.  I think there was a
recording by a British artist that went to the top of the UK
charts a few years earlier.

And before that, there must have been a recording for the sound
track of /Unchained/, the movie it was written for.

The Guinness Book tells me that in 1955:

It went to No 1 for Al Hibbler (US) and to No 1 for Jimmy Young, a UK
DJ. A re-recording by Jimmy went to No 43 in 1964.

Again in 1955, it went to No 10 for Les Baxter, and No 20 for Liberace.

It's also been a hit for the Righteous Brothers, Leo Sayer, Robson and
Jerome and Gareth Gates.

AAMOI, I always liked the version by Marty Robbins, even though
I think it was an LP track not a single and so wan't a hit.

Wow, Catherine, you have interesting dreams. I never do, never that
detailed anyway that I can remember. I usually just dream stupid stuff,
like I'm back in high school and suddenly realize I forgot to wear my
shoes to school or something. :-)
