IBKFergus barely stops to acknowledge the adult hoomin's existance (The
Yowlet is merely a very ugly kitten, as far as she's concerned). She
certainly has far more pressing kitty business to actually stop and allow
herself to be be scratched.
If you do try to interrupt her mad hoolikitten antics with a friendly word
or attempted pet, she'll happily bite whatever part of you that happened to
be nearest. I can now sympathise with people who have had their nipples
peirced. I really wish I wasn't given the oppurtunity to understand that.
But I am a perpetual optimist, and despite having my hands and feet
shredded, enduring a kitty claw / hoomin scalp velcro attached cat hat, an
aborted attempt at nipple peircing and other damage inflicted by the world's
most hyperactive kitty, I hadnt entirely given up on the idea of showing
IBKFergus the joys of having hoomin slaves. At least once a day, without
showing any regard for my life or limbs, I have tried to give her a good
scritching.
We've had her for 7 months. Thats at least 210 days of my attempts at being
nice to IBKFergus having been totally rebuffed, my plans of turning her into
a lap fungus all but foiled. But I'm stubborn (or stupid) and knew she'd
eventually crack. I knew there has to be at least one scritch spot on her -
all cats have one, and it was just a matter of enduring her wrath until I
found it.
Sure, I have to be holding her like I held The Yowlet as a baby - tummy to
tummy, chest to chest. And I have to touch noses with her for a while before
she allows herself to be thoroughly debased by human affection. And woe
betide if I stray outside of the accepted boundaries of the scritch spot,
But there is indeed a scritch spot on IBKFergus - on the back of her neck.
She won't tolerate being scritched in th emore typical jitty scritching
spots; under he chin, or on her cheeks, or behind her ears, or even in that
thin stiff fur spot in *front* of the ears, which is actually Shmogg's
favourite place in the whole world to be scritched. But she will tolerate,
and possibly may even enjoy (although she tries *extremely* hard not to show
it) being roughly scratched at the base of her neck.
Perhaps one day she might finally forgo her daily assaults on my ankles, and
possibly in her old age she will only meow for her breakfast rather than
attempting to eat me from the toes up, but hey, any progress is *good*
progress, and she does at least allow me to heap my luvvins upon her in one
spot on her royal person.
Guess I still pass as a cat slave.

Yowie, the patience you have with the Yowlet is also serving you in working
with IBKFergus and vice versa! You'll get there with her; you're doing a
great job.

Aha! You've found her Grafenberg spot :-)
I expect in years to come (after 4 in particular) you'll find she has
quite a few of them.
Purrs for more mellowing
