There was an old lady who lived in a shoe.. no no no a house and she had so
many cats she didn't know what to do.

Well she let the cats roam and this house is about 2 mins away from my
apartment.  Sadly, the females are not spayed so the collection kept
growing. (Note: The cats have since been removed due to unsanitary living
conditions).  One of the females gave birth to a litter of kittens and as
soon as they were weaned they were outside cats.

My friend was walking the dog one Saturday morning and she came across one
of the kittens playing in the grass.  We live in a very busy area of the
city so this was dangerous.  The kitten came running over to the dog and
began playing with him, rubbing against him and jumping on him.
Surprisingly the dog did not mind this.

My friend brought him home, I was in bed sleeping.  She calls out to me and
says look what followed us home.  I'm like right, a kitten "followed" you
home, unlocked two sets of doors to get in the building, then pressed the
elevator to one of the top floors and just happened to know which door you
lived behind.  Uh-huh sure!

She's nodding all excited like yess yess yess.  We had just lost another of
our cats to CRF and I was actually enjoying having two cats for a change,
knowing we would eventually get another one.  I just didn't think it would
be this fast, we were planning a trip to the shelter to chose one at the end
of that month.  Well, we went back to that house several times to ask about
the kitten but the lady would not answer the door she just peeked out the
window, we even brought the kitten back in our arms.  We took this to mean
she didn't want the kitten so we kept him.

We brought him to the vet for his tests and vaccinations and neutering, he
checked out perfectly and won everyone's heart.  No fleas this time
thankfully!  However about  week later Sookey-Boo began scratching his ear
and we took him to the vet, they put an e-collar on him and we came home. Ok
this cat in an e-collar is to reckoned with (lol I will write about his
broken leg and a perfect batting cast another time).  Well, it ended up that
he had an earmite (those things are ugly!) and now has a cauliflower ear as
a result of the scratching and ear surgery.  Squirrel is totally unphased by
all of this and continues to bounce on anything and everything.

He's grown to be a beautiful beast with long fur and such a pleasant
disposition, he spends most of his time curled up with either Peepers or the
dog (Sookey-Boo still has not forgiven him).

That's his story, much less traumatic that Peepers, but he insisted it still
be told.

Oh, he was named after Rocky the Flying Squirrel, because this cat does not
walk anywhere, he leaps and flies, you never know when he's going to fly
onto your back and hold tight.

I meant to say, "what a great story!" :)
