Charlie Wilkes - 14 Jul 2005 22:09 GMT Summer is here, and I am enjoying these warm, clear days in the San Juans. It is wonderful to be surrounded by happy animals who are enjoying life as much as I am.
I posted a web page with some pictures I took yesterday and the day before. You can view it at:
www.geocities.com/wilkes_charlie/animal_farm.htm
Purrs to all.

I'm under the impression that it is OK to post cat-related material and links to more than one cat-related newsgroup. Is there a FAQ or charter that says otherwise?

It is fine to post the story of your pets at your island place both here and in anecdotes, where it is certainly on-topic.
Some people there have asked that we do not crosspost, but given the behavior of many members of the group I see no reason to honor any request they make. (Compliance with their wishes is a courtesy I have done them in the past, but, again, I see no reason to do it now.)
Tell me, does Tweaker travel well? And does she seem flipped out by the change?

(Compliance with their wishes is a courtesy >I have done them in the past, but, again, I see no reason to do it now.) It's a stupid request in the first place.
>Tell me, does Tweaker travel well? And does she seem flipped out >by the change? He. Tweaker is very much a male, just as Holly is very much a female. He's rowdy, she's not.
He travels wonderfully. He is quiet in the cat carrier, and he likes riding in the car. He didn't get flipped out, but rather seemed to enjoy every new experience. He is very sociable. He loves people and dogs.
I'm back on the mainland for a dentist's appt., and Tweaker is back in his kitty bed, dozing away, just as he was before we left this morning.
I think having Holly in the equation helps with the travelling cat thing. Tweaker has two important relationships -- with me and with her. If both of us are with him, I think he is happy to go anywhere.

Yahoo groups are good for private clubs. Usenet is not. It was never intended to be. The netcop anecdotes a.sholes (and you know who you are) have gotten a false sense of both security and power because those who really could burst their little bubble have left them alone, mainly because they are a) amusing and b) completely vulnerable, spilling their guts all over a global forum. They are in for a good lesson if anyone decides to give it to them. But I'll leave that for others who have sufficient interest to do so.

I have no idea how I missed that. How much does he weigh? For some reason he looks small, like a little girl tabby.

How long does it take you to get to the mainland from your place on the island? And what sort of travel does it entail?

I suppose I can contact geocities and ask them to block the offending IP or domain. I'd rather not, but clearly I am up against a crowd that plays by different rules, and I will adapt as necessary.

Hey Charlie, are there snakes on the island?

Black or brown with a pale yellow stripe, I believe. They provide a good opportunity for dog-training. Holly won't go near them.

Yeah, looks like they did it soon as Charlie put it up. dirty dawgs!
I'm suprised Philip can even see the screen, his apt must be pretty charred and blacked up by now.

Geocities will block that whole domain if it keeps happening. I don't even have to notify them; it is done with a script.
This content rationing is a hoax anyway; they want customer pages to get lots of hits, but they also want to sell service upgrades.

It is wonderful to be surrounded by happy animals who are [quoted text clipped - 11 lines] >I love the pictures! That pit puppy has Holly wrapped around his >little paw! They are a great play match. Holly is the only dog Joey can really play with the way he wants to play, which is rough. Holly loves it too. She is bigger, and she is far quicker and more agile. She can control him, but it's usually more fun to let him do his worst.

A single tear coursed down my cheek.
I was so moved, I have arranged to have Ruprecht shipped out first thing in the morning.
He loves to have his back scratched to be ready!
Thanks Charlie! You the man!
