For two weeks now, every time I've scooped the litter boxes (4 - 1 for each
cat scooped morning and evening) I've noticed something strange. One
littler box out of the four had *not* been used each day. Same litter -
nothing to differentiate one litter box from the others. And each day it's
a *different* box that hasn't been used. Then Monday morning and evening
*two* litter boxes were not used and two were pretty full. Then yesterday
morning and evening *three* litter boxes were not used and one was
overflowing!!!
What it this, a Mewsa test that I keep failing? Is the mothership testing
my deductive powers and finding me seriously lacking??? What gives??????!!!

I don't know, but I'm getting an uneasy feeling. Remember in the film
"Independence Day" when the Jeff Goldblum character finds out that the
static is caused by a "countdown". First it was four, then three, then two,
now one. The end may be near!!!

It happens to us all the time, one box will be completely overflowing
and the others will be almost empty. As far as I can tell, it is
completely random. However, I have observed some cats will prefer one
box over the other. I've never seen Xoxo use the private privvy...

Same here. I bought a new litter box for Rusty as the old one
is slowly falling apart. Sometimes he used the old box, sometimes
the new, sometimes both. So now I hesitate to get rid of the old
box and ended up checking and scooping both boxes. More work for me.

I usually run two litter pans, one of which is jumbo-sized, for three
cats. So often over the years, I have noticed they make one pan for
pee and the other for poo. But not all the time. Sometimes they will
use one pan for both functions and ignore the other pan. I think they
are messing with our heads.

We have four litter boxes and our guys, while they prefer the two big
boxes in the bathroom, do use the two smaller boxes in the closet as
well. We have to clean the bathroom boxes more often than the closet
boxes, but overall, each box in each pair seems to get used about the
same as the one it is paired with.

Mr. Clark comments, sadly, that you would understand, had you been
diligent in your studies of great litterature.

My guys did that last summer. They all decided to use the open box in the
laundry room. When the weather changed they stopped using that one and went
back to using any one of the other three. Now the preferred box is the one
in the kitchen :o(

Having a litter box anywhere within 20 feet of routine food handling is
pretty unsanitary. YUCK.

Hmph, not all of us have got flats big enough to avoid that! I think the
distance at my place is about 16, should I stop having cats?

I've got a feeling you are going to be pretty grossed out if you stay around
this group for lone. Twenty feet is an awful long way in some homes and
apartments.
You really don't want to know some of the things that go on around here.
Guess we'd better skip your lunch invitation.
Quick question. You have a cat? You ever pet it? Have you seen how it
cleans its fur? Do you know where else its tongue has been?
Cat even walk across your pillow? You do know how they cover thing up in
the litter box, right?

I laughed hysterically when I first saw the dog food commercial were the
loved pet is lapping up water from the toilet bowl and in the next scene,
meets his master (a professional woman) at the front door. She bends down so
he can lick her face. Which he does with gusto.
Regarding "cat tracks", the overly perfumed stench of "SCOOP" brand clumping
litter take a couple of laps around the house to remove from his paws.
Trust me when I say that were Omar to go from the litter box to our pillow,
WE WOULD notice.

He's the idiot that returned Conan to the shelter, because he had a
cold. So he's the one ultimately responsible for a lot of the
unpleasentness in this group lately. It looks like he's trolling again,
I suggest you killfile him.

mph, you just don't appreciate sanitary rotation. This way, one box is
thoroughly aired out, the better for their concentration.
