Sorry for the earworm everyone :^)

Seems to me that there are one or two folks who are delighting in
stirring up trouble in the group by alternately preying our collective
insecurities and trying to get a reaction with offensive posts.

I've been sooo tempted to say something snippy and have managed to
catch myself, just in time, with the reasoning that a reaction is just
what they're after.

We, as a group, have done really well getting rid of pests like this in
the past with a combination of the wonderful Troll-B-Q and ignoring
them.  Admittedly, these trolls are a bit more persistent than
previously and are having a *fabulous* time stirring up trouble in The
Other Group, but if we're as persistent as they are, maybe they will
get bored and leave (or disappear when school starts again).

I finally just figured out why I've been seeing all the recipes when it
doesn't seem there's a reason!  DUH!

But instead of that and wasting bandwidth, why not just ignore them.  I'll
see something and when I click on it, discover it's a troll. But there will
still be 10+ replies, responding to the troll.  But whatever...

Shirley,
It is part of the tradition of this group to post recipes for a Troll BBQ.
See section 6.4.6 of the FAQ.  It is pretty entertaining reading.

I never thought about that before, but you're right.  Hmmmm, I'll have to
think on it a bit.

I think its because it makes you sweat and evaporating sweat cools you
down. I read this in a book about India. The food in Southern India is a
lot spicier than Northern India.

Now, the interesting thing is that no asian countries had chiles until
500 years ago or so. :)

This is true.  The various kinds of capsicum peppers are all of New
World origin.  I suspect that the spicy-food traditions probably
predate the introduction of peppers, using various other hot spices.

I make a thai dish using only black pepper as a condiment. Very hot!

The theory I heard growing up in Southern California was that the hot
stuff helped you start sweating, and encouraaged you to take drink,
which in turn helped you cool off.

NOTE:  I didn't paste the entire recipe (my mistake) so see my other post
for the complete picture.  CN, you can't stand wine so you might not like
the addition of Sambal (a liquer) - just leave it out.

Correction (stupid me, I must have still been asleep).  Sambal Oelek is not
a liquer, it's a pure pepper paste.

It's 1 O-Clock In the morning
I wondering what to do to save the sun
The space that I take
Is more than I can give
And Mary's last song has just begun

Everybody's pretty
My brother won't rest till he knows I'm home

> I've been sooo tempted to say something snippy and have managed to
> catch myself, just in time, with the reasoning that a reaction is just

In these days of changing ways
So called liberated days
A story comes to mind of a friend of mine

Whitershade was trollish I guess
Nothin' more or nothin' less
The kindest guy I ever knew

His mother's tears fell in vain
The afternoon he tried to explain
That he needed love like all the rest

Pa said there must be a mistake
How can my son talk that way
After all I've said and done for him

Leavin' home in a pickup truck
Cast out by the ones he loves
A victim of these trollish days it seems

Whitershade went to Nashville town
Where he quickly settled down
And soon became the toast of his own way

Never heard by Music Rows elite
or any places that were chic
No party was complete without Whitershade

Along middle suburbia he'd rule
And all the old trolls blew a fuse
Everybody loved Whitershade

The last time I saw him thrive
Was in the summer of 95
He said he was in love I said I'm pleased

He found himself at a cross roads there
But I ask who really cares
He once said to me and I quote

"Riding in my spaceship
How do ya'll know what it feels like
What makes you think you can navigate
When you don't know where I'm flying
Telling me the facts about what I say
When you don't know if I'm lying"

Whitershade was a friend of mine

Oh Whitershade stay, don't go away
Whitershade please stay you take our breath away

At least its a quality earworm (Gershwin). How's your winter going? You
guys don't get to freeze your butts off like we do up here in New England
USA.

Why, thank you ma'am!
Winter is going OK, now that we've had a bit of rain.  Funny,
Sydneysiders whinge (complain) that it's *freezing* when the daily
maximum is anything below 15C, although the nighttime minimum rarely
gets much below 5C, which is a blissfully warm winter for anyone from
the northern hemisphere.

Is there something else I should know?

Something hidden down below the level of your conversation?

*and so it went as we put out, I was left in constant doubt everything
I asked about seemed private

*The OP strolled the bridge one night
I stopped her in the evening light
To ask her if it'd be alright to join her <snickering>

But she stood there like some idol
And she listened like some temple
And then she turned away

All along the faithful posts
we moved silent like a ghost
The timeless words of tireless host posessed us
The flames came blowing from the hot southwest
and soon the posts began to crest
crashing cross the big usenet
All thoughts lost

I alone survived the sinking
I alone posessed the tools
On this ship of fools
