How do I stop a rambunctios kitty from wanting to race out the front
door and then the screen door? (We have a large area between the two
doors)

She, Buffy, only seems to want to do this when the weather is
intolerable.

P.S. I'm fine, Dennis did nothing to my neck of the woods.

Don't know what to tell you about Buffy, but very glad to hear that all is
well Dennis-wise.

We always jangled keys at kitty level to get them to go away from the door
first. EVentually, they just don't go there.

Wouldn't work here, sense it would sound too much like their tags
jangling on their collars, which means time to go OUT.

A squirt bottle, maybe?

Looks like Dennis is going to wreak havoc way up here in west TN (after the
collision with the Mississippi gulf coast).  We've got wind warnings for
tomorrow, t-storm and tornado watches, flood watches.  Look out, baby, here
I come!

Have someone on the outside (or yourself if that's not possible) of the
door you don't want her going out of with a squirt bottle, and open the
door slowly until she appears.  Let her have it full blast in the face.
Repeat many times until she associates the door and outdoors with
something unpleasant.  Keep the water bottle outside for a few weeks so
that every time you enter you are armed and ready to fire.  We trained
2 indoor cats that way and it didn't take long.  We then trained them
to wait to be picked up and put out when they went out on the leash.
We never let them walk over the threshold by themselves so they
wouldn't get confused.

In the event kitty doesn't mind water, buy a bicycle horn and honk it
at her instead.
