And you are the person who wanted to adopt Conan?  I guess Dan did good to
make sure you didn't get him.  I have met you before on a poultry group.
You chopped the toe off a chicken with no anaesthetic, and you got slammed
for it.  Rightly so.
As you seem to be so far from a vet it would be better if Conan got another
home.
(OMG, don't start me on this.)  Help me, rpca to not respond.
Aaargh.

Put him in your killfile.  Like a bad penny, he'll keep showing up with
different email addresses so killfile as fast as you can.

Right!  I remember you now.

It's true I used no anesthetic:

I wiped the angle-cutters with rubbing alcohol, though.

The threads are all archived in sci.agriculture.poultry.

So your cat is named Boyfriend, eh?  How interesting.  Maybe you
should hook up with Dan to rescue a lonesome pussy.

He's a jerk!  Hopefully, some of the people who thought he would be a fine
person to adopt Conan will take a look at some of his more recent messages
and rethink their support for his fine "character."

Conan is under maximum security confinement at an undisclosed
location.  Dan has seen to his welfare in a big way.  He sacrificed a
lot of credibility to do it, too.  Not just with me.

Running out of material, eh? I think at this point, you ought to hang a
"DNR" sign around you neck. Things are winding down, it's getting close.

Hi Philip.  Glad to see you in this group.  I'm afraid I'm not getting
off to a very good start here.

It seems they all LUV Dan!  Dan is their MAN.  The girls all want to
wrap their legs around his big fat hairy a.s.

But my comment above is quite true.  Dan has a credibility problem
that he doesn't want to address.  So I am not bearing a popular
message.

Yeah, and because *I* was the one that spoke up about my concerns
of sending Conan to him, *I'm the target for getting my name
dragged through the mud by that whole gang led by Mary. Along with
a few others. That's ok. My conscience is clear.

Just shrug it off, Cheryl.  You were right.  I am right.  As I said, I have
met him before on another group.
Conan needs a different home.  I hope he will get one soon, but at least he
is safe from being put down.

Trying to, Tweed, and yes he is safe.

BTW, we're sending purrs from here to all of you who had to go
through the senseless horrific tragedy in the name of hate today,
and those who lost their lives, and their family members. The thing
that gets me is how terrorists, or even the ones *claiming*
responsibility give the reason that they did it, yet target random
citizens. Many, many people don't support the reasons for the war
in Iraq, and for all anyone knows, the ones killed and injured
today have protested, prayed, supported *ENDING* it because they
don't believe in it. What a way to get a message out. Barbaric.
I'm just in shock. Again.

We have suffered bombing attacks for many years here.  From the IRA and now
from ??  who knows. AQ is a strong suspect. We will *never* give in to
terrorism here in Britain. We will fight it all the way and we will win.  We
will never tolerate it, never, ever.

I was thinking today of the long history of bombings in Britain. It does
not make them any less horrible, but ought to remind Americans that
things don't get invented when they happen on US soil.

One of the things I thought this morning was "Bombs in London?  Don't
they know that's been *tried* before?"

No one is talking about you, Cheryl.  Everyone is talking about
Monica.  She is taking the fall for Dan.

Please be kind enough to take note of the fact that I clearly stated I
would be happy to see Conan go elsewhere.  I posted the night before
the cat was "rescued," when it was obvious that the controversy about
me was distracting from the main objective, to get Conan out of the
shelter.  I said:

"I am happy to be the adopter of last resort and defer to either of
the others" (meaning the other people I knew of who had offered to
take him).

In a private email to Dan and the others who I assumed would end up
with custody of Conan, I said:

"The guy in San Diego sounds like an ideal solution for the cat and
for everyone. If other options fall through, I can and will provide a
good home for the cat, on short notice."

In other words, Cheryl, I listened to your concerns and yielded to
them, but without getting mad or slamming the door behind me.  What
more could you (or anyone) want???

But, for all that, Dan and Monica found it necessary to pull a fast
move, grab the cat, and dummy up on everyone except a dwindling group
of sympathizers.

Nope, only works if others stop continuing the thread - which of
course I'm doing by replying here. But this will be my last post on
the subject

This is our new favorite cocktail, and it's so easy to make.

Kir Royale

Cassis liqueur
Champagne or sparkling wine

Put about 1/2 inch of cassis on a champagne flute (more if you like it
sweeter) and fill up with champagne.
Enjoy!

Oh!  I love this!  I'm thinking of making a classic fondue tomorrow with
baby swiss cheese, white wine and a splash of kirsch or brandy.  Chunks of
fresh french bread from the bakery to dip in the cheese.  Yum.  Kir Royal
would be a nice accompaniment.

Yummm.  I think I had something like that at lunch my last birthday.
Something that tasted like currants poured over a sugar cube and then
covered with champagne.
