ESPN, the US-based all-sports tv network, has sent Jim Caple (one of
their web-page columnists) to Europe to see various famous "sporting"
events (Wimbledon, Running of the Bulls, etc - he calls it his "Lost
In Translation Tour of Europe" <g>). His latest stop? Sonkajarvi,
Finland for the World Wife Carrying Championship.
He and his wife actually competed in the event (hey, the guy's a
humorist!), and links to his 2-part story are below. It really is an
amusing read, and it sounds as if they had a wonderful time in
Finland.
