It's too bad that kitten parts can be so difficult to identify :)

We had taken a look at Ranger's bits and determined that she was a girl
cat. We took another good look this morning - it now appears that Ranger
needs a blue collar, not a pink one!

Good thing she has a unisex name!  How old is he?

The good thing is a neutering is much simpler than a spay.

Maybe that's why Ranger was so interested in how Paw relieved himself. <EG>

Ah well.  Neutering is easier with outdoor plumbing, and the name doesn't
have to be changed.

Bah!  Once a cat knows his/her name, you don't want to go changing it.

Hence why I have a female Oscar.

I know what you mean.  That's how Tanya became Tawny (RB).

Just as well you don't have to change her (his!) name!

It's a good job the name fits either sex. At least the 'operation' will
be slightly cheaper. :-)

Oh my goodness!  I guess Sammy won't feel so left out now!

I think he'd like to feel a little left out. Ranger seems to think that
Sammy is the bestest playmate ever and won't give him a moment's peace.

That happened to a co-worker who had Lucy & Ethel kittens; they turned into
Ricky and Fred!

You've been under quite a bit of strain lately, Dan, but when you can't tell
what model your Ranger is......let Nancy be your designated driver today
LOL. May the Fourth be With You!

IMHO  I'm not an expert, but sometimes a gentle "feel" will tell you more
than a look.   MLB

You may need new glasses!  :-)  First Harri, now Ranger...  (or was Harri
misidentified before you had her?)

Maybe Sammy will like having a brother for a change!

Actually, the people who had her before Dan thought she was male and named
her Harry.  When they took her to be "neutered" the vet informed them that
she was female.  Dan decided to keep the name and make it short for Harriet.

Sandy, who hopes Dan doesn't mind her telling the story

I think the only fool-proof way is to check by touch!  (Male
cats have a couple of bits of anatomy the females don't, but
they often have, also, a black spot under the tail that can
be mistaken for a bit of female anatomy, if you're relying
on visuals alone.)

Ah, well, Dan, look at it like this.  There are a lot of females in your
house so Ranger will help with the bias.  You can always share with him by
saying  "it's a man thing."
LOL!
