Yep, there's definitely mayhem in my apartment, literally.
Mayhem is picking fights with Imp and Mischief. The other day,
Mischief was just sitting on the window looking out. Mayhem jumped up
on the bed unseen and slowly crept up behind Mischief. I saw it coming
and told her not to do it.
But she quickly dashed forward slapped Mischief on the rear, let out a
loud hiss and dashed off the bed. *sigh*
And just now, Imp was eating his breakfast and taking a long drink.
Mayhem was poised just around the corner, watching his every move. Imp
finished and started to walk back to the living room. Meanwhile
Mischief was watching the entire thing from her tower.
Mayhem dashed forward and hissed at Imp, who immmediately went on the
defensive and hissed back. Mayhem hissed again and then took off
running. Mischief started to get down from her tower in case she
needed to step in.
Sheesh! And yesterday I managed to break up a possible fight went
Mayhem got Mischief trapped in a corner.
And for some reason, the step stool in the kitchen was lying on its
side this morning and a bunch of upended cereal boxes were nearby. No
one's talking.....
Is she just trying to pick a fight? or is she trying to assume
dominance as alpha cat? I'm not sure which, but when all three cats
are in the same room it's a tense moment to see who will make the first
move.

She has found herself a place to live and is defending it with all her
heart. She is jealous, too. She has found you and wants you all to
herself. I don't blame her as she needs to do this to be a survivor. Don't
ask me what you can do about it, I haven't a clue, sorry.

It sounds to me like she is practicing instinctive behaviour. She
wants to play. If the older ones would chase and play-fight, she would
be fine. Perhaps you can get them all to interact with a cat dancer
toy, like The Feathered Flyer. My cats love it.

Mayhem probably wants to play with Mischief, but she doesn't want
anything to do with her. And Imp is too scared to do anything.
Alas, time will tell

Same problem over here, too. I've had to ban Rita from the bedroom
at all times. It *looks* like she's trying to play with them, with
playfights, but they just run and hide under the bed. Then she sits
on the bed and lords it over them. They can't even get out to use
the box or she attacks.
What can I do? They're perfectly fine in the room by themselves.
They have each other, and I go in to visit and even sleep. Rita
sees me outside of the bedroom, but then she gets locked out
all night. Nobody's really happy, but nobody's really unhappy
either. It's only for 3 more weeks now.
She's definitely an ALPHA cat and they're not.
