Just got a call from Dr. J's nurse. I'm to go in Tuesday morning, July 5th
and they'll hook up this monitor. I am NOT being charged for this! YAY!
I'll have to return it Wednesday morning but that's okay. I'm very thankful
for the extra precaution being taken by my doctor and that they are more
concerned about my health than they are with charging me an arm and a leg.
I had a bad night. I had a bite to eat (egg and toast) and took the
anti-inflammatory he gave me. It made me sick to my stomach. So much for
that. Then no matter what I did I couldn't get into a comfortable position.
It almost seemed since I'd called someone's attention to the pain, it got
worse. Finally in the wee hours of the morning I got up and put one of
those hot patches on my shoulder (Thermacare) and was able to sleep a bit
more comfortably and to not disturb Persia!
I'm very grateful for everyone's concern here, thank you very much everyone!
This is a wonderful group of people!

I used to have a handle on life...but it broke off.

It's not a big deal. Do wear a loose top so there's room for the wires.

When an anti-inflammatory upsets your stomach, there are usually
alternatives -- this is one area where it's good to get samples. You can
either substitute an Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) from
one of the other chemical families of NSAIDs -- 6 the last time I
looked, take drug(s) with it that prevent the irritation, or both.
There are a couple of over-the-counter things that "coat the stomach":
Gaviscon and Pepto-Bismol, which work differently. Sucralfate is a
prescription (I don't know why) that also is a coating. Misoprostol
(Cytotec) restores the protective gastric mucus that NSAIDs remove.

Your doctor is wonderful! I'm so glad he's taking all the precautions. Did
you ask if there were something you could take that wouldn't upset your
stomach? If not, I suggest you do.
