It's been a long, long past week.

They let Richard out of the hospital last Weds. or Thurs. (I'm losing
track of time here).  He did not feel ready to leave, but they felt it
was best for him to go home, and then return to work part-time this
week.  They feel he needs some structure.  They also upped his meds.

I didn't know if he would be up for helping me with ComFest, which is
always a strain.  It's a good thing; I make most of my business money
for the year there, but hauling a lot of equipment (tables, chairs,
tent, cooler, etc.) and setting it up is a pain for sure.  And it is
fun to see friend I never see otherwise, and enjoy people and
dog-watching (heck, this year, a woman was carrying a giant parrot on
her shoulder!).

DH thought he was up for it, so we went.  Only to discover they had
installed a huge electrical box IN MY SPACE!!!  Great.  DH ran around
trying to find solid answers as to what to do, safety issues, etc.,
and trying to work it out with the booth next to us who usually has
space for people to look at their, erm, smoking paraphernalia, at the
side because of the way we set up.  We kept getting conflicting
answers, until finally the "head honcho" said we could just pull the
tent way back if we wanted (I usually like it back partways to give
people privacy).

So we were late gettiing started.  It was 93 degrees or so out, and
nobody was buying anything.  Usually my big day is Saturday, anyway,
so I wasn't too worried that Friday was slow.

Saturday, we called the cab to go.  They must have flagged us from
Friday (because of all the stuff we had to haul) and nobody wanted to
transport us, because they took an hour to get a cab to us.  We were
already running late, so we got there and started late in the
afternoon.

After just a couple of readings, it hit.  The storm, that is.  Yep,
huge storm, thunder and lightning, rain pouring down.  People huddled
in booths as best they could, while others, with a more Woodstockian
attitude, danced in the rain.  I pulled out my umbrella and sang
"Singing' in the Rain", trying to maintain my sense of humor under the
circumstances.

The humor dimmed as the water poured off of the tent and drenched me
totally.  An open gazebo-like tent doesn't offer that much protection
when the rain is moving sideways!  We both got drenched.  We took
plastic and mostly saved the papers and cards and whatnot, but some of
them get wet, too.  The chairs were soaked.

Just as we thought it was all over and I did one more reading, it
started AGAIN.  Worse than before.

They shut down the festival early, and we packed up and went home.  We
had to lay a bunch of stuff out to dry, hoping it would overnight.  I
soaked my felt hat and my suede jacket, and they are probably both
ruined forever.

We made it back Sunday, very late again, after having to pull
everything that was scattered around to dry together again.  For the
third day in a row, it was in the 90's.  Nobody wanted to buy.
Everybody was just too hot.  I did about five readings and called it
quits when everyone else started tearing down their booths.

I made enough to pay our tax person I owe from March, but not enough
to do much of anything else.

Just one more thing I didn't need.

Sigh.  Sigh.  Sigh.

Oh -- at least there are two pieces of good news:  biopsies were
normal, and so was my mammogram.  Woo-hoo (she says with no energy).

I need a fairy godmother or something!  Turn my life around.  Make
shiny, good things happen. Pleeeeeaaaaaseeeee?

lol!

Oh, well.  There's always next year.
