I think I tried to post this but it either got lost in the ether or was when
my newsserver was having problems. If it's a repeat, I apologize.
Persia normally wakes me up by purring in my ear accompanied by a gentle tap
on my neck or shoulder. The other morning she tried a new tactic. I heard
her purrs in my ear. I waited for the tap, but no tap. I felt her whiskers
tickle my ear... then she tilted her face down and *very gently* bit the
skin behind my ear by the base of my hair. (I was trying not to giggle, it
was so terribly sweet!) Then it sounded for all the world like she started
chewing on my hair! Um, whatcha doing, Persia?! Waking you up, of course
:)

I used to have a handle on life...but it broke off.

Oh how sweet! She was trying to pick you up by the scruff (and carry you to
the kitchen to get her yummies, probably)! ;>

Yep, that's what I thought, too! I don't have a lot of "scruff" (LOL) and
she's a big girl but not that big! Besides, it was 4 AM and definitely not
time for her crunchies (nor for me to get up!) I do love rolling over and
seeing those gorgeous green eyes gazing intently into mine... trying to
hypnotize me, no doubt!

Snoopy has recently changed her wake up method as well, she presses her
head against mine and purrs very loudly. Even when she wakes me at 5am
it's impossible to be cross with her. :-)

I wish our cats were more subtle when they want us to get up. These are
their wake-up methods:
Maya -> yowl as loud as possible
Fez -> climb on top of the little fish tank (he's not allowed there)
Rufous -> stand on top of our lungs, thus decreasing our ability to breathe
Basho and Issa -> chase each other around the bed, walking all over the
sleeping bodies
Luna and Xoxo don't really try to wake us up, I guess they let the other
cats do their dity work. :)

Isn't that the truth! When you get the head rubs... oh! how could anyone be
cross!

Silver likes to climb right into bed with us and to sleep down by my
feet at the bottom of the covers. This puts her into the ideal
position to wake me up - she just stretches out a bit, extends her
claws and starts chewing on either my foot or my knee (whichever's
closest). Needless to say, this gets her evicted from the bed, but it
also wakes me up! lol
