I've been putting off doing this for a while. Mostly, it hurts. I think it's
time, mostly because of the bickering.
Duck Duck Duck
Eve said "mama" without trouble. She could say lots of things. But Jody
always played Duck Duck Goose with her. So Daddy became Duck. And there'd be
no way you could tell her otherwise. Any of us, her grandmothers, her
grandfathers, her sister, Jody, me... We could repeat Daddy until we were
blue in the face, only to be met with a very vocal, very insistent "DUCK".
The end of last summer, she started learning what a phone was and on the
nights Jody was gone, she'd toddle over with the cordless. I'd call him up
and she'd put the phone to her ear and he'd talk away and she'd
occassionally say "duck" and always blow kisses.
Her headstone has a small duck now.

<bawling> Oh God Grace, I want to reach through my computer and hug you and
Jody and Abi! I can't even imagine what the last year has been like for
you. I am very encouraged, however, to see that you *can* start remembering
the cute, sweet moments and share those with us. It's a long, hard road you
still have to travel, but if you ever need me to walk by your side please
know that I'm here for you always.
Hugs,
