Zorin the Lynx - 24 Jun 2005 23:22 GMT
Hi folks!

Anyone else have cats that seem to get really happy and playful when
they use the litterbox?

Lynxie has always been playful in the litterbox; he jumps in with a
"pounce" motion as if he's playing, digs and makes "mrrrp!" trill
noises, looking at me, then does his business, covers it up, so on...
It's just odd that he just does it so enthusiastically!

I wish going to the bathroom could make me that happy!

Anyway, just wanted to say hi, as I haven't posted in a while! Hope
everyone's doing well; I wish I could be a regular participant here, but
real life keeps me busy!

They do seem too often DASH out of the catbox. Simple pleasures.

Quinn will be on the deck and suddenly, perhaps mock fright at my
appearance, dash down and out into he woods and up a tree.  I mean, he
loves to do that anyway, even taking a walk with us.  Then he'll jump
down find a good spot and scratch around, squat, cover up, and dash off
madly again.  I figure part of it is to try to entice another cat into
playng but none of them dare, heh.  Norm

Stinky often comes shooting out of the litterbox and down the stairs
like a bat out of hell.  He seems to feel lighter. ;)

I have a theory about this race after using the litter box.  I think it is
a safety measure left over from the wild to get away from their scat
quickly so predators won't find them.   Maybe I'm wrong, but then, again,
maybe not.  MLB

Tennessee does that.  I always thought it was because he was afraid the
turds were going to try and crawl back in :D

But your reasoning seems much more plausable.

But that doesn't explain why Ping has to *announce* his "acceivements" in
the litterbox.  I guess it's a warning to get the gas masks! LOL

When I fist saw Rusty 10 years ago, he was sleeping under an
overturned litter box in his cage. Almost didn't see him then.

Aww, where are the pics? I've come to expect a lot of pics whenever you
post, Zorin. Though maybe this wasn't the best of subjects for
pictures... ;o) As for litterbox action, Miranda spends ages preparing
for the deed. She digs and digs and flings litter all around. She seems
to have fun. Frank doesn't fool around in the litterbox, but then he's a
venerable old cat of 17, and can't be expected to. He does get the
after-relief zoomies, though.

Mom's Petrus perches on the edge of the box so as not to get his tootsies
dirty. Then he scrapes allll the litter into a pyramid shape. Go figure.

My sister's cat Linus, who taught himself to use the hoomin toilet,
perches on the side of the litterbox whenever he uses that, just the
same way as he perches on the rim of the toilet bowl.

Yes, hust like that! We had a cat once who also taught himself to use the
toilet and it was just like that.

Isn't that a scream?  Stinky does that too.  He aims himself at the
top of the stairs, and just launches himself down like a rocket.  It
looks like his paws never touch the floor.

Having Fenchurch as a permanent indoor resident (until her stitches are
out, at least) has meant that consumption of litter her has gone up
considerably - not least because she digs like she means business.  I'm
surprised she's not appeared at Yowie's.

Vino's pretty normal in the litterbox, but it's once he's finished his
business that the fun begins.  He loves to run over to his scratching
post and give it a really good scratch while wiggling his butt.  Then
he zooms around the house a few times.  Dennis and I have taken to
imitating him after we have had a very satisfying bathroom session.
Dennis coming out of the bathroom after having been in there for a
looooong time, then wiggling his butt and scratching the post has come
to mean "It's stinky in there so use the upstairs one if you have to"

Nanki-Poo either gets playful or wants cuddles (usually the latter) when he
has just used the litterbox and is particularly stinky.

Welcome back, Zorin! Soncek has a covered litterbox, so I do not see exactly
what he does in there, but he jumps out really happy afterwards also.
Best wishes,
