Talked at length to the Vet this morning. I like this lady, she is not
Jazz's regular Vet (he is on vacation) and has never met or handled Jazz. I
mentioned the PU (surgery) and she said this is a last resort and he's not
there yet. His regular Vet was kinda pushing this surgery at me the last
time and this lady Vet said it's up to me but she wouldn't recommend it at
this point. So, I feel that she is doing everything she can to avoid him
having to be mutilated.
This certainly makes me feel more hopeful. He may still have to undergo the
procedure but at least it's not number one on the agenda right now.

The last time this happened, Jazz was his usual nasty self. He had to be
tranquilized anytime a procedure had to be done. But after a couple of days
he was starting to warm up to the people around him. Then, I visited him.
That was it, he turned really nasty to the staff again. So, this time, I
will not visit. With all the purrs and prayers around the world going for
him I'm sure he feels that I am still around for him even if he doesn't see
me for 4-5 days. I plan to call every day to ask about his progress and
update everybody. Thanks for everybody's prayers.

Lydia, Jazz's mama

PS we are still purring and praying for every sick and lost little kitty
from this group, Harri, Otis, Jessie, Rusty and everyone else.

Many good vibes heading Jazz's way. New vet sounds good.

That's great news. As I mentioned in another post, Rusty's vet
also said the same thing - the PU being a last resort. Apparently
it is a very delicate surgery.  You will need a skilled surgeon who is
experienced in PU should it becomes necessary.
I think your regular vet was just getting frustrated with Jazz's repeated
blockages, just like Rusty's vet did. You should've seen him when he found
urine crystals for the nth time.

Rusty is eating a bit more now. Thanks for the purrs.

That's encouraging! Purrs continuing for a total flush and NON recurrance so
he doesn't have to have PU or ever go through this again.

I hope this vet will find a less drastic way to help Jazz, Irulan. She
sounds pretty good.

Lots and lots of purrs and best wishes for Jazz to recover without the
surgery if at all possible, and hugs for you, it must be hard staying away
from your baby even if you know it's for his own good,

Sounds like a good vet -- we'll continue to send purrs to Jazz and you for
his speedy recovery.

I'm glad your vet is exploring all avenues - I always like a cautious
approach when it comes to surgery, especially in an older cat.

Purrs are still heading your way.
