Otis did not come home

Hi all:

Thank you for your Otis-go-home purrs.  He's not home yet and it's 7:30 AM -
sunrise at 5:22 AM.  If it was Chester, I wouldn't worry so much - he's
savvier than Otis and a little bit more independent.  Otis is just such a
homebody, a fan of his wet food, and hates being even a little cold - it
gets cold at night here even in the summer.

Ugh.

I'm going to start doing the usual right now - go look for him, listen for
his loud meow in garages, post signs, and check Pet Lynx, which is used for
lost cats in the city.

I'll keep you updated.

I feel a little discouraged this time.  It's why I posted late last night
when I ordinarily would have waited until the morning.  Maybe its just
because I've done the heroic search for Otis so many times as you all know -
from the cattery, when we moved, Halloween four years ago, ecetera.  I've
now registered him with PetLynx and I'm making posters.    I hope my little
friend comes home soon.

cats seem to do, very soon.

Oh no! Get-your-furry-behind-home-right-now purrs on their way to Otis.
Poor Susan, he does give you much grief, doesn't he. But then, I know
the joy he gives you is thousand-fold. Purrs and hugs to the worried
Meowmie.

When Otis come home, and I am sure he will, can youtry to keep him as an
indoor only cat. That will save a lot of worries.
I am glad I live in a highrise and Rusty doesn't go out, except to see
TED.

Winnie - Otis has a long and colorful history relating to trying to keep him
inside.  It includes stress related illnesses, Prozac, various attempts at
enclosing him, and him peeing throughout the house in revenge.
Unfortunately, being in the Out is what's most important to him and all my
valiant efforts otherwise were fruitless.  I sat him down and talked about
the risks with him when I finally took him off the too-sedating Prozac
(after he overdosed on another medication designed to help him out).  He has
stayed pretty close to home since then - other than the extraordinary events
of the past two summers that resulted in him getting lost - a move to a new
home and an escape from a cattery.

Susan, don't have any guilt over Otis getting out. Some cats just do *not*
take well to being indoor-only animals. I know my three *loathe* being
indoors only for any duration. They get totally stressed out if they are
indoors only. When they are allowed access to outside during the day they
are much, much happier cats - being cats in the garden and adjacent fields,
catching mice, shrews, voles... it's what cats do.

Here's hoping Otis comes home soon.

More Otis-go-home purrs offered!
I know all to well how this feels. Hugo Katt used to like a night out at
least once a month, sometimes even once a week. He eventually always did
come home. Some few times it took days. Now, when he will soon be 16, he
always comes home.
It is a nice time of the year to be out all night I suppose.
OTIS - GO HOME!
Purrs,
Elisabet and Hugo Katt who is providing the purrs.
