"My bags are packed, I'm ready to go..."
Okay, I'm not leaving on a jet plane. I'm going only a few miles down the
road. But I've got everything packed (except the food I plan to cook). I
figured it would be best to haul the suitcase to my car today so Persia
won't think I'm taking her to the "smelly place". I'm not, and it's in the
trunk of my car. I'll be able to run back and play with Persia and feed her
and scoop her box and give her scritches morning and evening and do the same
with and chirp at Peaches. I've got an electric light timer I can set to
turn the lights on and off for both of them so it will mimic my being home
when I'm not here.
I am bringing along some games for John and I to play when we aren't working
at the show. We like to play cards, but all those years ago we used to play
backgammon, too. AND, I have Catopoly... a mimic of Monopoly :) Whoever
has the most litter boxes wins! Sound like real life to anyone around here?
LOL
I'm actually looking forward to pretending I'm on a trip when I'm not really
on a trip. I dislike my apartment complex pool but won't have a problem
taking a dip in the hotel pool. The weather here is supposed to be hot
(around 90F) and humid. For the show, I did get a couple of those personal
"misters" for us as recommended here.
The only thing I have to do tomorrow is pick up a couple of books to read
(I'm a voracious reader) and some wine. LLL probably won't arrive until
about 4PM but I'll check in earlier and make sure the room is what we
expect. In fact, I'm calling now to make sure it's what we requested.
I had an unexpected jolt when I checked online about the show a while ago.
The Preview on Thursday night is by "Invitation only" (who issues the
invitations? The Memphis Arts Council perhaps) or $20 at the gate. We
weren't expecting that. But Previews are generally for "patrons of the art"
who come in and decide what they want to buy before the general public gets
a look-see. Still, most of the ones I've experienced don't charge
admission. Invitations are issued and the "patrons" are given tags to put
on items they want to have marked as SOLD but they don't normally charge
admission. Hmmm. I hope this is a good thing.

I used to have a handle on life...but it broke off.

How about the rest of the song?
You know "when you will be back again", right?
And are you "going to wear xxx wedding ring"? :)
It is my favourite song. It was very popular when I was transferring from a
Catifornia college. I've only been back to that college town once.

You did it Jill. Now I found myself singing (or rather mangling) the
song all afternoon.
