I don't think cats hate water.  I think cats know they can do a better job
of it themselves rather than dunking themselves in it or standing under a
shower :)  Persia was so fascinated by drinking running water from the
bathroom sink I bought her a kitty fountain. (This reminds me, it's time to
clean it and change the filter.)  Just last night I was taking a nice,
soothing bath.  Persia sat on the edge of the tub and gave me a good talking
to.
