Bad news for those wanting to see Afleet Alex vs Ghostzapper in this
year's Breeder's Cup horse racing series. Ghostzapper, 2004's Horse of
the Year, has been retired, due to a hairline fracture discovered in
the 5 year old's left front ankle.

I saw this. It's really a shame, but I cannot say I am surprised. Once
again, I think that Alex's training regime is going to stand out in stark
contrast to this brilliant but fragile horse's training. I really think they
need to get them out more. Teach them to harness that speed until needed and
build their stamina. I just don't understand why they continue to go the
opposite direction!
