How often do you clean the lint off your dryer?

And I don't mean just the little lint filter you're supposed to empty
after each dryer load. No, I mean un-screwing the thinguie the lint
filter attaches to and digging in with some tool to get all the stuff
out. Well, I just did and it was very scary. I'm surprised the dryer
hasn't caught fire yet! I pulled out about a quart full of
solid/compressed lint and dust and cat hair. YIKES!

You just made me very glad we have a new dryer.  Now if I could just
convince Charlie and the boys the filter really should be cleaned every
load....

If only because then it dries clothes faster.  I can't get them to give a
damn about the utility bill.

I know it's about time to clean mine out because it's starting to take two
cycles to get clothes dry (that's usually how I tell it need to be cleaned).

I have a special brush thing to do that with. I think the reason the lint
stuff doesn't catch fire is because it is up front, not where the greatest
heat is. Also, it is an electric dryer. I have to clean the filter 3 times
during normal dry
time just for the cat fur thereon. Sometimes we get enough to "make aother
cat".
