Is your computer safe???

Heh...the Deadly Duo, unlike our famous mantra, do *not* pee on the
keyboard, PC, or anything else but their trusty big litterbox, which is
emptied not every day, but about every two hours or so....their way of
seeking "payback" for frequent absences of hoomin slave is to
knock all loose matter from top of bedroom dressers to floor (hoomin is not
stupid enough to leave breakable items up there, but they are apparently
satisfied to vent their displeasure that way). Our puter is quite safe,
except from crumbs of its hoomin's snacks.

Persia pays absolutely no attention to my computer, cables, keyboards or
otherwise. This may be due to the fact I was acquired by her when she was 2
years old and past the kitten stage. Or it could be she simply doesn't
care. Even when she's in my lap when I'm typing here, draped over my arm,
she doesn't give the monitor so much as a sideways glance. She's never
tried to get up on my desk, let alone the keyboard. The only time she goes
behind my desk is to hide from thunder if the closet door isn't open.
I have two PC's and a printer/scanner/fax with cables snaking all over the
place (okay, I try to keep them close to the wall) and a couple of surge
protectors; she couldn't care less. She's more interested in the cardboard
boxes my books are in.
The *only* time she peed outside of the litterbox was when she had UTI's and
it wasn't near the computers. She wanted me to KNOW she had a UTI so she
peed on her pillows to send me a message (even if it did mean a trip to the
smelly place and wound up in bladder surgery).

My cat Stanley sprayed my old HP Laserjet several times a couple of years
ago. No fire, the thing still worked. He hasn't sprayed on the new
Minolta yet. I think he's past the "spray the laser printer" stage. I
hope.

Once Rusty peed on a case of canned prescription cat food. There was only 1
can left. Wonder whether that was his way of telling me to get more food. He
had no problem eating the food.
Since then I haven't put any case of prescription cat food in his room
anymore,

Boyfriend would never dream of doing anything in the house. Kitty is so old
that she occasionally defaults to pee on my small store of wood under the
television (I have a woodburner as my main heating) and has twice pooed on
the kitchen rug. Where the greeblings are. Last time, yesterday.
Not as if she can't get outside. She has access 24/7. When I asked whose
poo was this, she made some sort of stupid excuse that it was probably BF.
What she doesn't realise is that a) he never ever poos in the house and b)
the poo was so small in diameter that it could only be hers!

A couple of years ago Nubbin, my Himi/Manx...being quite peeved I was having
to go out of town again...hopped up on my rolltop desk and let fly a large
wild jet of wiz....Right into the light switch!!! I heard a cat squawk from
the kitchen where I was making coffee and went into the den...the wall
paneling was on fire and the smell of wiz and burnt cat fur was very
strong...I had to call the fire department...I was quite embarrassed when I
had to explain to the fire marshal (after the fire was out and the wall was
checked for "hot spots") how the fire had started...Nubbin had singed tail
feathers but was otherwise fine...The paneling...not so...Now, EVERY light
switch and outlet has a plastic flap covering it... which is a pain( you
have to maneuver under then when plugging in or turning on or off the
switches) but it's alot safer... :-) Liz
